IKORODU METRO LIONS CLUB TAKES VISION PROJECT TO ODO-NLA, SCREENS 184 RESIDENTS, PROVIDES FREE EYE DRUGS & GLASSES ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

As Lions Club International marks world sight day on the 8th of October, members of Ikorodu metropolitan lions club took Odo-Nla community in Ikorodu North LCDA by surprise for health justifications.

In a project overseen by its new president, Lion Ibrahim Lasisi, the club assembled residents of the industrial axis in a town hall, administering an unrestricted eye solution program.

Partnering with the Catholic Optical Outreach, Ijebu-Ode, Ikorodu metro lions club gave relief to inhabitants on free eye tests, diabetes and BP tests, health talk, provided free drugs and eye drops for patients with sight deficiency issues, and also recommended patients with complicated cases, especially cataracts for surgery enlistment.

In all, 184 residents were successfully screened, 73 medical glasses and 53 drugs were handed out, subsequently, 7 patients were referred for cataract surgeries.

A total of 21 members of the Lions club chaperoned by 8 Leos (a younger sect of the organisation) assisted in executing the vision project, which was applauded by dwellers as an impactful and life-saving undertaking for people in the town.

The club president, Lion Ibrahim Lasisi, spoke to Ikorodu News Network (INN) during the program, elucidating the importance to which the aid was carried out.

“Let me start by saying that, before joining the lions club, I never knew how much people were suffering around the community. The club’s community need appraisal is an eye-opener for me personally, to understand the challenges faced by different regions”.

“Understanding that government cannot do it all by themselves, today, the random need assessment of Ikorodu metro lions club brought us to Odo-nla community and we’re partnering with the catholic optical outreach to give free eye tests to residents, also we have free drugs and glasses to give out”.

Praising his members, Lion Lasisi noted that all credit must be given to his colleagues because the mission is made feasible through collective contributions made possible by all volunteers of the club.

“This vision program spans two weeks, what we’re implementing today is for our club (Ikorodu metropolitan lions club) proper, and the next one is for our entire district 404A1” Lion Lasisi asserted.
