14 SCHOOLS TOUCHED, NYCN IKORODU LG CHAPTER ENDS SCHOOL SENSITISATION AGAINST CRIME, GIFT STUDENTS WITH BAGS ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

Capping her annual school sensitisation, members of the National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN) Ikorodu LG branch took its institutional crusade to community junior and senior grammar schools in gberigbe community on the 3rd of November 2022.

Tagged ‘Stop the crime campaign’, the program spanned three weeks, creating extensive awareness among pupils on the dangers of partaking in negative activities and its side effects.

Taking turns to admonish students on staying obedient to every authority, the team touched on preventing examination malpractice, bullying, prostitution and evading curses from parents or elders by displaying a decent moral character.

In summary, 14 schools were visited by the youth committee, as they campaign against crime, instructing students to stay away from petty negative traits that might end up eroding their future.

Two brilliant students from both the junior and senior sets were gifted with school bags for answering key questions on the subject matter.

Opaleye Michael, chairman, of the directorate on education, NYCN Ikorodu LG chapter, spoke with Ikorodu News Network (INN) post crusade exclusively on the program’s significance.

“It is about showing them the right path and creating a better future for them with our strong words of encouragement and notifications.

“The students we gifted with school bags were a result of their good response in explaining the crime questions we dealt with. It was a form of appreciating their brilliance”.

In a quest to discern how promising students are in writing, the council is furthermore working on a school debate and essay competition for schools across the local government.

The competition according to Mr Opaleye Michael is also meant to converge, parents, students and school administrations for a discourse on ways to improve the student’s tendencies to learn and shun social vices.

“It is a competition meant to infuse positive change in the foundational stage of the children” Opaleye asserted

He further advised students to think positively and abstain from immoral obsessions that would decline their academic performance.

More so, he warned students to be watchful of friends with negative intentions, persuading them to report every form of bad influence and acts to their parents or teachers for necessary actions to be taken.

Headteachers and officials of the school applauded the council members for the message passed across to the pupils, exhorting them to make the crusade a constant endeavour.

Comrade Idris Omotayo, Coordinator, NYCN Ikorodu LG branch, Comrade Awolesi Omolara, Comrade Odufeko Tolulope ‘Pukka’ and others were also in attendance.
