The 36th edition of Isiwu Eweye Day celebrations transparently revealed the ancestral roots of Isiwu town, uniting the void between additional key boroughs in Ikorodu North LCDA.

Majestic ending of the annual traditional extravaganza held on the 26th of December 2022, was all about glitz, glamour, fashion and promotion of the epic lineage in Ikorodu division.

The annual festivity which kicked off on the 20th featured programs; publicity, free health care program, Clean Up Isiwu, Artisan, Trader & Sports Day, Woro, Ibiripo and Ikokore day.

Hosted by his royal majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Eweye of Isiwu, the royal finale received HRM, Oba Kazeem Gbadamosi, Ologijo of Ogijo, and HRM, Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo, the paramount ruler of Odo-Ayandelu Ikosi Ejinrin Epe.

A cultural performance by Apepe group, led by Lukman Shafari (Olotu Pampa) brought the celebration to a standstill, as the conventional musician thrilled guests.

Paying homage to HRM, Oba Olukayode David Raji, the Eweye of Isiwu included; Obayori Obirin Eweye Isiwu, Omo Oke Parapo Isiwu Eweye, Onofonyin Royal Family Of Isiwu, Bobakeye of Isiwu Kingdom, Egbe Gbobaniyi of Isiwu and a stand from Ikorodu federal lawmaker, Hon. Babaji Benson’s iCare foundation.

The festival further exhibited its interest in education as winners of its spelling bees and debate competition were given cash prizes courtesy Otunba Folagbade Banwo, Chairman of the occasion.

Prince Adedoyin Jokotex (PAJ) movement also presented school bags to the champs.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, the vice-chairman, Hon. Olawale Ameen touted the organising committee for putting together an extraordinary experience.

According to Hon. Olawale, the Council Boss has always been supportive of the festival, and will constantly do so to further project the tradition of the region.

He added that the synergy between the traditional institution and local council is a union that must be adopted frequently to harmonise activities in the community.

Miss Oladibu Comfort from LG Primary school took the first position. She and other students were gifted with cash and gift prizes.

The chairman of Isiwu development association, impressed by the intellectual performances promised the students higher scholarship programs to enhance their academic dreams.

According to the Chairman, Otunba Folagbade Banwo, subsequent 37th edition of the festival will proceed to upgrade in standard and elegance.

He affirmed that the occasion would evolve to measure up to numerous annual escapades commemorated across Ikorodu division.

Suing for more synergy and unity among inhabitants, HRM, Oba Olukayode Raji, thanked both residents and the planning committee for making the festival an outstanding event, exhorting the organisers to build on the progressive trajectory.

After the King bestowed his acknowledgment remarks, Asiwaju Wale Ogunbela (Jp), the event coordinator, delivered the closing vote of thanks to capping the historic occasion.

Giving applause to the Chairman of the occasion, Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR (Chairman of House Committee on Defence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria), Senator Adetokunbo Abiru FCA (Father of the day), Special Guest of Honour, Traditional and Honourary Chiefs, Past Chairmen, Erelus, Baales, Local Government Chairmen, Mr Wale lauded all well-wishers for the unflinching support both Financially and morally towards the success of the 36th anniversary of Isiwu Eweye Day 2022.

He concluded by honouring the effort of HRM, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Olugbade 11, Eweye of Isiwu and the 2022 Eweye Day Planning committee members in conjunction with Isiwu Youth Development Association.

Talking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Mr Habeeb Adeyemi Adesanya, Chairman, of the planning committee disclosed that the event is a unifying symbol for all strata in the region.

In his words, “Isiwu is an ancestral town in Ikorodu North which encompasses of all the council wards; Odogunyan, Agbede, Erikorodu and Agbala”.

“Isiwu is also where both the palace of our paramount ruler and the local council secretariat are located, which tells you about the importance of this community”.

On the sport and educational competition, Mr Habeeb noted that the contest was organised in all the council wards before finalists were chosen to attend the climax for a special presentation.

Communicating on the educational aid earned by students at the event, Mr Habeeb expressed that the organisers did it to encourage students to take their studies more seriously, asserting that if the collective roles of everyone in the community are in play, more promising leaders will emerge.
