Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club recently organized a tree-planting project at Ikorodu Senior Grammar School on Monday 24th of July 2023.
The club, which is recognized for its commitment to the welfare of residents in Ikorodu, aimed to promote environmental awareness and give back to the community.
Made up of dedicated individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in their community, Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club in time past has organized various events, including distribution of free food packs, health fairs and community cleanups.
The recent three-planting project is just one example of their efforts to promote environmental sustainability and community development.
All 4 trees were planted around the senior school blocks, coordinated by Lions Adeola Rotinwa, a past President of the Club.
Mrs Adeyemi Oduyemi, Principal of Ikorodu Senior Grammar appreciated the club for always rendering their aid to the school, conveying her excitement in the various paths the club has assisted the institution.
She continued, “Understanding the significance of Climate change, we’re glad to embrace this laudable project by the club, which is meant to preserve nature”.
“This very project is unique in numerous ways because even only the Hibiscus Flower they planted in our school can be used for Biology Practical to help our students grow academically”.
“Tree planting also enhances a green environment, prevents air pollution and brings more oxygen”.
“On behalf of Tutor General, Education District 2, Mrs Anike Adekanye, I want to sincerely thank the leadership and members of Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club for making their presence felt once again in our school” Mrs Adeyemi asserted.
Though the program was marked during the student’s end of session, the event was a success as the club hopes it will inspire the pupils upon their resumption.
Ikorodu Pioneer Virtual Lions Club had earlier presented a free iron-produced transparent waste bin to the school intended for promoting a clean environment.
Former president of the club, Lion Adebukolah Adefolayiga and Lion Bolatito Oropo were also in attendance during the project execution.
