Ikorodu Newspaper, formerly known as Providence Ikorodu Newspaper, founded in August 1983, is fix to commemorate its 40th anniversary this year.
The Newspaper has been a trusted source of local, state news and a source of knowledge for residents of Ikorodu division and its environs for four decades.
Ikorodu Newspaper, as a news catalyst has played a significant role in promoting democracy, good governance, and community development in Ikorodu.
It has been a platform for citizens to voice their opinions and concern and has helped to keep the local government accountable to the people.
Prince Ganny Awobajo, the chief publisher of the Newspaper, in building up to the milestone age expressed his gratitude to the people of Ikorodu for their support over the years.
Speaking on behalf of the pioneer members who established the print media agency, Awobajo stated that the Newspaper was founded to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance and that he’s proud of the role it has played in the development of both Ikorodu and Lagos State in general.
The 40th anniversary of Ikorodu newspaper is a significant milestone, and the management and staff of the Newspaper are grateful to God for keeping the agency.
Ikorodu Newspaper has been a symbol of excellence in journalism and has won several awards for its outstanding contributions to the development of Ikorodu division.
“It has also served as a training ground for young journalists, many of whom have gone on to become successful media connoisseurs, of which Ikorodu News Network (INN) is a product of our tutelage”.
