IKORODU METRO LIONS CLUB OFFERS FREE EYE CHECK-UP IN GLOBAL OBSERVANCE OF WORLD SIGHT DAY ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

In celebration of World Sight Day, Ikorodu Metropolitan Lions Club organized a commendable initiative to promote eye health awareness and provide free eye check-ups to Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA.

The project’s goal is to educate people about the causes, treatment, and prevention of eye-related issues, aiming to reduce vision problems in society.

On October 12, 2023, Ikorodu Metro Lions Club collaborated with Cathem Eye Hospital to bring free eye check-ups to Eregidon community in Oreyo.

The event was marked by the presence of esteemed guests, including the Baale of Eregidon, Chief Moshood Adeniyi Sulaimon, Chief Tijani Sharafa Baale Ilado, the CDA Chairman, and community residents.

Welcoming participants and beneficiaries, Lion Ahmed Ajayi, former president of Ikorodu Metro Lions Club emphasized the importance of adhering to medical advice, stating, “The eyes are the light of the body.”

On her path, Lion Shakirat Adefogabi, President of Ikorodu Metro Lions Club, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, Cathem Eye Hospital, and community members for their participation.

She underlined that the free eye medical check-up was conducted in honour of World Sight Day, with the 2023 theme being “Love Your Eyes at Work.”

She stated, “The eyes are the king of the body, and we want people to take care of their eyes.”

Furthermore, she shared the positive feedback received from beneficiaries, indicating that the project has been well-received by the community.

The President further expressed her hope for future collaborations with Cathem Eye Hospital, stating, “This is our first time with Cathem Eye Hospital, but with God, Ikorodu Metro Lions Club can continue with them on World Sight Day.”

Dr. Edini Ijaodola, the manager of Cathem Eye Hospital, expressed his appreciation towards the Lions Club’s initiative in serving the community and recognizing World Sight Day.

He explained that eye issues can arise due to various factors, including genetics and the nature of one’s work.

“World Sight Day provides an excellent opportunity to educate and inform people about eye health” he asserted.

Chief Moshood Adeniyi Sulaimon, Baale Eregidon Oreyo, conveyed his gratitude to Ikorodu Metro Lions Club for bringing the project to his community.

Beneficiaries also shared their appreciation towards the Club, as they received eye check-ups and were provided with necessary medications and glasses.

One beneficiary mentioned, “I have been struggling to get my reading glasses for a while now, but with no stress, I could get it here.”

In all, residents of Oreyo expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Ikorodu Metro Lions Club for their invaluable contribution to the community, and for celebrating World Sight Day in a meaningful way.
