On the 7th of November 2023, Ikorodu witnessed a remarkable event as Christ’s Compassion Crusade to the Rural World, an initiative dedicated to addressing the needs of rural communities through the gospel, officially commenced its program.

The event, held at the Igbogbo Stadium, drew a large number of residents who were presented with clothing items and essential food supplies, notably indomie.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, the founder of the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) was among the coordinators ensuring participants get all the support they came for.

The initiative aims to bring hope, support, and compassion to the residents of Ikorodu and surrounding areas.

One of the highlights of this noble initiative is the provision of free surgeries for residents with medical challenges. This invaluable service is actively ongoing, and it aims to address critical health issues within the community.

The program’s organization displayed a thoughtful approach, with residents segmented into different sections based on their needs and circumstances.

These sections catered to privileged individuals, physically impaired, elderly folks, widows, youths, and children, ensuring that the welfare packages and support are tailored to meet the unique requirements of each group.

The Ikorodu News Network (INN) had the opportunity to speak with some of the coordinators, who highlighted the significance of the event and the positive impact it is expected to have on the community. Their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of the residents were evident throughout the event.

The Igbogbo Stadium saw an overwhelming turnout of residents, reflecting the community’s appreciation and support for such initiatives.

As the Compassion Crusade program is still ongoing, it is expected to leave a lasting impression on Ikorodu, instilling hope and providing vital assistance to those in need via the gospel.
