IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNVEILS AMBITIOUS 2024 FISCAL BUDGET FOR UNCOMMON GROWTH ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

Striding towards community development, the Ikorodu Local Government has taken a proactive step by presenting its “Budget of Uncommon Growth” for the upcoming fiscal year 2024 to the legislative arm.

The Presentation was done at the Legislative chamber in Ikorodu on the 29th of December 2023.

This early submission underscores the local government’s commitment to swift and effective implementation, aligning with its vision for progress.

Themed “Purposeful, Profitable, Transformative, and Sustainable,” the 2024 budget signifies the government’s determination to meet the aspirations of its residents while boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Ikorodu Local Government.

The emphasis on basic amenities reflects a strategic move to positively impact the community.

A retrospective look at the 2023 Budget, totalling N2,010,997,560.87, reveals detailed allocations for federal, VAT, IGR, and state-coordinated revenue.

Noteworthy expenditures include staff salaries, political office holders’ allowances, and pension costs.

Anticipating 2024, the proposed budget outlines a federal allocation of N677,390,000.00, VAT of N1,317,010,000.00, and other FAAC-related allocations, culminating in a total revenue budget size of N2,249,997,057.10.

The expenditure plan for 2024 encompasses staff salaries, political officeholders’ allowances, pension costs, and overhead/operating expenditures.

Allocations for social services expenditure and other capital expenditures highlight the local government’s commitment to development and an enhanced security architecture.

During the presentation, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, the Executive Chairman, spotlighted the achievements of 2023, spanning healthcare facility renovations, educational initiatives, and community empowerment programs.

Chairman Adesina stressed the importance of citizens contributing through rates and taxes to fund crucial local government projects.

The 2024 focus includes the development of central motor parks, the construction of a legislative building to separate powers, and an intensified empowerment program.

Councillors from the legislative arm, including the leader of the house, Hon. Adebowale Adebola, Hon. Fatuga Mutiat and Hon. Shotomiwa Wasiu, lauded Chairman Adesina’s proactive approach.

They pledged to meticulously review the budget, ensuring it aligns with the community’s vision for growth and progress.

In conclusion, the budget presentation marked a pivotal moment in the ongoing transformation of Ikorodu Local Government.

The leadership expressed gratitude to stakeholders, including the legislative arm, former deputy governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, special adviser on rural development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Distinguished senator Adetokunbo Abiru and member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson for their unwavering support.

Representing Ikorodu constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, who attended the budget presentation commended the chairman for his unique performance in 2023, asserting that the council should remain hopeful for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide policies that would further propel the council in providing the dividends of democracy to residents.

Former Lagos State Head of Service Commission chair, Alhaji Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa, who also praised the council boss for his efforts, urged him to create more avenues for the council to generate revenue, adding that Ikorodu is growing rapidly.

Present at the budget presentation were the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Lateef Afinni, Baales across Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, APC chairman in Ikorodu LG, Alhaja Adebukola Oluwakemi Osho, Alhaja Rashidat Bello, APC Women leader in Ikorodu division, the WADESH Babes and others.
