LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT PROMOTES YOUTH EMPLOYMENT IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

Fostering community development in empowering local youths, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, emphasized the importance of providing job opportunities for youths during community development projects.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, 16th of January 2024, at Oto-Awori LCDA, where the Lagos State Government officially commenced the construction of Ijake Street road as part of its commitment to upgrading the standard of living for residents in the area.

Dr Agbaje, addressing the community before the groundbreaking ceremony, urged the residents to take ownership of the project, emphasizing the need to create a conducive environment for the contractor to operate efficiently.

The Special Adviser passionately pleaded with the contractor to prioritize the engagement of local youths by providing them with opportunities for empowerment throughout the project.

The move aligns with the state government’s vision to not only enhance infrastructure but also contribute to local economic development.

In all, the event served as a platform for community leaders, government officials, and youth representatives to come together in support of a shared vision for inclusive development, underlining the commitment to both infrastructure enhancement and socio-economic progress in Lagos State.

The flagship program witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Mr. Bolaji Kayode Roberts, the Honorable Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development.

Also in attendance were Prince Musibau Ashafa, Chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA, Alhaji Taofeek Arogundade, Chief Imam of Oto-Awori, Mr. Mendes Boudurin, CDC Chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA, and HRM Dr. Josiah Aina Ilemobade, Ikuyamikun 1, Oba Of Oto-Awori Kingdom.

According to the Contractor (Horb Ventures Limited) in charge of the road construction, the interlocking-styled road project will be completed in 24 weeks.
