Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club successfully executed a waste recycling project at the Oshodi Arts Gallery in Ikorodu on January 16, 2024.

The initiative, spearheaded by the club’s President, Lion Abuaja Innocent, underscored the importance of maintaining a healthy environment by addressing the pressing issue of waste management.

The project drew attention to the need for collective action in creating a cleaner and greener community.

Lion Kayode Aluko, the Project Coordinator, played a pivotal role in organizing and overseeing the recycling endeavour.

The event was graced by Lion Akinosho David JP NlLCF, Lion Aminat Sanusi NLCF, Lion Adedokun Seyi, Lion Dr. Paul Oshodi, Lion Alapafuja Fuad, Lion Komolafe Omowunmi Okaminiwie Roselyn, and Lion Ganiyat Oshodi, actively participating in the project execution, adding momentum to the club’s commitment to environmental conservation.

The Oshodi Arts Gallery served as the focal point for this impactful endeavour, as Lions Club members and volunteers collaborated to recycle waste material (plastic bottles).

Charter President Lion David Akinosho highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “Our environment is a shared responsibility, and the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club is committed to playing its part in fostering a sustainable and healthy community.

Recycling is a crucial step towards mitigating the environmental impact of waste.”

Project Coordinator Lion Kayode Aluko emphasized the educational aspect of the initiative, stating, “Beyond the immediate impact of waste recycling, we aim to raise awareness about responsible waste disposal and encourage a culture of recycling within the community. Education is key to fostering lasting change.”

The project not only served as a platform for environmental action but also as an educational forum to inspire positive behavioral changes.
