In a poignant spiritual gathering heralding the new year, Sky Club Of Nigeria hosted its exclusive annual interreligious prayer session at its Omitoro center in Ikorodu on January 21, 2024.
The event, attended by club members, executives and chiefs representing the Ayangbure-in-council, aimed to invoke blessings for the new year.
Leading the Muslim prayer session, the Chief Imam, Saheed Olorunloraemiyin accentuated the significance of gratitude, urging Sky Club Nigeria members to consistently appreciate God for guidance.
Advocating humility as a cornerstone for success, he encouraged a humble approach and active community contribution to make a positive impact.
During his address, the Chief Imam advised members to prioritize self-care, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health and overall well-being.
The resonating message not only created a sense of unity but also instilled a shared purpose among the attendees.
Following the Muslim session, Venerable Dr B.A Osunyomi took charge of the Christian prayer, reinforcing the inclusive nature of the event that transcends religious boundaries.
Speaking with Ikorodu News Network (INN) post the prayer session, Alhaji Mukahil Afolabi, President of Sky Club, delved into the club’s history.
Established in 1980, initially focusing on Ileya celebrations, it evolved into a full-fledged club.
Afolabi, also the CEO of Labi Oasis Theatre in Ikorodu, clarified that the club serves as an investment platform, governed by eligibility criteria, rules, and regulations.
“Members contribute to the club’s development, and dividends are shared according to contributions,” Afolabi stated, underscoring the club’s commitment to integrity and a positive image in the selection of new members.
Discussing the change in venue for the prayer session, Afolabi highlighted the club’s tradition of holding it at the Ayangbure of Ikorodu’s palace.
He emphasized the ongoing ties with the palace and the significance of maintaining such connections.
“We invited Ikorodu News Network (INN) to cover our prayer session to create more awareness about our Club, encouraging good and eligible members to join the Club,” Afolabi concluded.
Venerable Dr B.A Osunyomi, the General Secretary of Sky Club of Nigeria, elucidated that the prayer session serves as a recommitment to God, expressing gratitude for the preservation throughout the previous year.
Addressing the club’s community impact, he noted that individual members undertake projects, asserted that himself and the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, (life Patron of the club) has undertaken numerous supportive projects, but not in the collective name of the Club.
“This year, the club plans collaborative efforts with the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) to execute projects for the community’s collective benefit” Dr Osunyomi said.
