In a bid to bolster the intelligence capabilities of the Police Force, Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has mandated the deployment of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to assume leadership roles in the Intelligence Department across Zonal and State Commands nationwide.

The strategic deployment aligns with the IGP’s commitment to fortify the Intelligence Department at all Force levels, aiming to tackle the escalating crime rates in the country.

This move underscores his overarching vision to create a robust framework for crime prevention and resolution.

IGP Egbetokun, upon assuming office, reinstated the Presidential approval for elevating the Force Intelligence Bureau to Department status, appointing DIG Habu Sanni to oversee the newly formed Department of Force Intelligence.

The newly appointed Senior Officers have been entrusted with leveraging intelligence-based assets to combat crimes within their respective jurisdictions.

The IGP emphasized the importance of professionalism and the application of their extensive experience to strengthen the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.

This strategic posting takes immediate effect, reflecting the urgency and commitment of the Police Force in enhancing internal security through an upgraded and fortified Intelligence Department.
