As the anticipation builds for the AFCON final, the Lagos State Ministry of Health extends warm wishes to residents while emphasizing the significance of health-conscious celebrations during such thrilling events.

With the Super Eagles vying for victory tomorrow evening, the ministry has issued a comprehensive health advisory, urging residents to prioritize their well-being.

The advisory, signed by Prof. Akin Abayomi, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, outlines crucial tips for a health-conscious celebration:

1. Know Your Limits: Residents are advised to be aware of their physical limitations and consult healthcare professionals if they have underlying health conditions that could be exacerbated by intense activities.

2. Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Avoiding crowded and poorly ventilated spaces is crucial. The advisory stresses the importance of good hydration, encouraging residents to consume plenty of water and maintain a balanced diet during the event.

3. Take Regular Breaks: To prevent stiffness and fatigue, the ministry recommends periodic breaks. Residents are encouraged to stand up, stretch, and move around, especially during prolonged periods of sitting and watching the game.

4. Maintain Good Posture: Sitting in a comfortable chair with proper back support is emphasized to reduce strain on muscles and the spine.

5. Stay Calm and Relaxed: With the intensity of the game, practising relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or mindfulness is recommended to manage stress and emotions during crucial moments.

6. Be Prepared for Emergencies: Familiarizing oneself with the location of medical facilities and emergency exits is crucial. In case of emergencies, the Lagos State Emergency Medical Team (LASAMBUS) can be reached at 767 or the toll-free line 112.

The advisory extends its concern to viewing centres, urging them to ensure the availability of adequate medical facilities and trained personnel to respond swiftly in case of emergencies, emphasizing the significant impact on outcomes.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, in signing the advisory, emphasized the importance of seeking prompt medical attention for any unusual symptoms or discomfort during the event.

Residents are urged to enjoy the AFCON final responsibly, keeping health at the forefront of their celebrations.
