Executives and esteemed members of the renowned Sky Club Of Ikorodu joyously converged at Ayangbure’s Palace on the memorable Sunday of February 11, 2024.

The purpose was to celebrate the momentous 70th birthday of none other than the revered Ayangbure of Ikorodu kingdom, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi.

In a poignant display of gratitude and admiration, Oba Shotobi, a distinguished life patron of the club, was bestowed with a meticulously crafted special large-frame picture card.

Additionally, an award of merit was presented, symbolizing deep appreciation for his impactful leadership and unwavering support of the club’s manifold endeavours over time.

Club president, Alhaji Mukahil Afolabi, extolled Oba Shotobi as a paragon of leadership, emphasizing his unique ability to project neatness in all dealings.

Afolabi proudly labelled the king as a trailblazer, breaking ground with innovative leadership.

Adding a touch of novelty, Afolabi announced a pioneering club policy during the celebration – a cash prize of one hundred thousand naira for members reaching the milestone of 70 years, with Oba Shotobi rightfully becoming the inaugural recipient.

Expressions of admiration and respect flowed from the members, with notable figures like Leke Ogundipe and Dr Jokomba Aderoju praising the king for his exceptional leadership and role modelling within Ikorodu division.

Venerable Dr B. A Osunyomi, the club’s general secretary, took a moment to recognize Oba Shotobi’s integral support in his spiritual and religious journey.

The heartfelt prayer offered wished the king longevity, happiness, and prosperity.

In a gracious response, Oba Shotobi conveyed deep gratitude for the special birthday celebration and lauded the club’s leadership for consistently fulfilling their social responsibilities.

Going above and beyond, the club presented an additional token of honour – a lifelong support award to Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, the queen consort.

Olori Kudirat Abosede, visibly moved, expressed her appreciation for the recognition and urged members to actively involve their wives in club activities, reminiscing about the club’s inception and her role in convincing her husband to join.

The celebration continued with the recognition of outstanding contributions within the club’s membership presented by the king and his wife through the club’s leadership.

Mr Samuel Olusoga Osunyomi was honoured with an award for Outstanding Selfless Service, showcasing his dedication to the club’s mission.

Dr. Abdul-Lateef Aderoju Jokomba and Mr. Shamsedeen Alade Ganiyu received well-deserved merit awards for their exceptional support, contributing significantly to the club’s success.

Past president Mr Lookmon Adeobi Andu received a special acknowledgment for his unrelenting guidance, which played a pivotal role in steering the club towards achievements from 2015 to 2023.

The grand celebration culminated in a heartwarming photo session, immortalizing the camaraderie and shared joy between club members, executives, and the esteemed King and his Olori.

The event not only marked a significant milestone for Oba Shotobi but also showcased the strength, unity, and collective achievements of the Sky Club Of Ikorodu.
