The longstanding dispute surrounding the unauthorized usage of the Shasha General Community Town Hall in Alimosho has been a source of tension within the community for an extended period, dating back to the time when Alimosho Local Government was under Ikeja jurisdiction.

However, recent developments indicate a positive shift in resolving this issue.

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, has spearheaded mediation efforts on the 14th of March 2024 to address the dispute.

Through constructive dialogue with key stakeholders, including the Oba of Shasha Kingdom, Oba Babatunde Akanbi Nasiru Lawal Ogunronbi, and the Council Chairman, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon Adewale, progress has been made.

A significant outcome of these discussions is the commitment to renovate the town hall.

The decision to undertake renovation work stems from the dire state of the structure and the imperative to prevent its misuse by undesirable elements.

The forthcoming renovation (as affirmed by the council chairman) is expected to not only address structural deficiencies but also create a conducive environment for constructive engagement and communal activities.

Dr. Agbaje commended the proactive stance taken by the Oba of Shasha Kingdom and the Council Chairman in resolving the dispute.

He reiterated the commitment of the Office of Rural Development to closely monitor the situation and ensure its successful resolution.

“The efforts to mediate peace and facilitate the renovation of the town hall underscore the dedication of the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to fostering peace and prosperity within communities across the state” Dr Agbaje asserted
