Gearing towards environmental conservation and sustainable waste management, Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club initiated a Plastic Recycle Project on March 26th, 2024.

The project, held at the Oshodi Art Gallery, brought together key members of the club, including the project coordinator, Lion Aluko Kayode, former president Lion Akinosho David, Lion Sanusi Aminat, Lion Oshomoji Dare, Lion Ganiyat Oshodi, and Lion Adedokun Seyi.

The Plastic Recycle Project is a significant undertaking aimed at addressing the pressing issue of plastic waste pollution in the environment.

Inspired by the initiative of PDG Ano Anyanwu PMJF, NLCF, in the year 2022/23, the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club wholeheartedly embraced the cause by actively participating in the production and utilization of recycling bins.

Lion Aluko Kayode, the project coordinator, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in combating the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on the environment.

He emphasized the club’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the community.

“We recognize the urgency of addressing plastic pollution, and through initiatives like the Plastic Recycle Project, we aim to make a tangible difference in safeguarding our environment for future generations,” stated Lion Aluko Kayode.

The event served as a platform to showcase the club’s ongoing efforts in recycling plastic waste.

Through the production of three recycling bins, the Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club has been actively engaged in collecting and recycling plastic materials, thereby reducing the environmental impact of non-biodegradable waste.

Lion Akinosho David, a former president of the club, commended the dedication and commitment of the members towards promoting environmental sustainability.

He reiterated the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and urged other organizations and community stakeholders to join hands in similar endeavors.

The Plastic Recycle Project underscores  Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club’s unwavering dedication to serving the community and making a positive impact on the environment.

By championing initiatives that promote recycling and waste management, the club continues to set an exemplary standard for environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
