
In a concerted effort to address pressing security concerns across Ikorodu division, Ikorodu Local Government hosted a pivotal Peace and Security Meeting at the Council Secretariat on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Chaired by esteemed members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Aro Moshood and Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu Constituencies II and I respectively, the gathering aimed to devise strategies to enhance peace and security within the region.
According to Hon. Moshood Abiodun Aro, the outcome of the meeting signals a step forward in promoting sustainable peace and security in Ikorodu and its environs.
The meeting saw the participation of key stakeholders, including ACP Jaiyeoba I. Joseph from ACP Sid Ikeja representing the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, emphasised the importance of collaboration among various law enforcement entities.
Notable attendees included Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Bldr Sesan Daini, Executive chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Executive chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Prince Wasiu Agoro, Executive chairman of Imota LCDA and Hon. Sulaiman Olarewaju, Executive chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA.
The Nigeria Police Force, Ikorodu Area Commander, and Divisional Police Officers stationed across Ikorodu Division were also in attendance.
With a focus on dialogue and proactive measures, discussions delved into the root causes of prevailing security challenges and potential solutions.
Hon. Adesina Wasiu, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, stressed the imperative of collective action, urging synergy between law enforcement agencies, the local joint security task force, and community members.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to foster closer cooperation among stakeholders, implement community-driven initiatives, and enhance intelligence-sharing mechanisms.
