Bidding to alleviate the pressing economic strains burdening its residents, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has embarked on a proactive initiative, distributing 1,000 food palliatives to mitigate the hardships faced by community members.

The vital endeavor, significantly supported by the state Governor, Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, seeks to cushion the impact of the prevailing economic challenges on vulnerable households.

The distribution ceremony, held on April 6th, 2024, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries and community leaders, including Hon. Femi Kabiru, the vice chairman of Ijede LCDA, Mr. Ajetunmobi, Alhaji Ajala, Women Leader, Alhaji Wasiu Salisu, Mr. Sodiq Mabako, Apex Leaders, and other prominent figures within the locality.

Their collective participation underscored the gravity of the situation and the unified commitment to addressing the community’s needs.

Hon. Femi Kabiru, representing the council boss, reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to assuaging the plight of residents amidst these challenging times.

He underscored the pivotal role of the food palliatives in providing immediate relief, especially amid soaring costs of essential food items.

Furthermore, he extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his proactive directives to all Local Government authorities, emphasizing the paramount importance of prioritizing initiatives aimed at supporting the populace.

Former Executive Secretary of the council, Hon. Ajetumobi, lauded the Chairman for her tireless efforts in bringing smiles to the faces of community members.

He further expressed profound appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for extending a compassionate hand to the community during this period of adversity, highlighting the invaluable impact of such interventions.

The systematic distribution of the food palliatives ensured equitable access to beneficiaries across various segments within the community.

These categories encompassed traditional authorities, religious bodies, artisans, market associations, security agencies, people living with disabilities, youth organizations, and other vulnerable groups.

This inclusive approach not only addressed immediate needs but also fostered a sense of solidarity and communal support.
