NUT IKORODU BRANCH EMPOWERS TEACHERS THROUGH SPORTING ACTIVITIES ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

Promoting physical and mental well-being of teachers in Ikorodu, Comrade Oluwafemi Oluwaseun, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Ikorodu branch, has spearheaded an initiative centered around sporting activities.

Under the banner of “SPORTING ACTIVITIES FOR TEACHERS IN IKORODU – INDOOR AND OUTDOOR GAMES,” the NUT Ikorodu branch has embarked on a mission to enhance the health and camaraderie of educators within the community.

Recognizing the pivotal role that regular physical activity plays in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Comrade Oluwafemi Oluwaseun emphasized the importance of such initiatives in preventing conditions like hypertension, obesity, and overweight while concurrently boosting mental health and overall well-being.

“With this vision in mind, the NUT Ikorodu branch has curated a diverse array of sporting options aimed at catering to the interests of teachers across various disciplines”.

“Among the offerings are indoor games such as Scrabble, Table-Tennis, Ayo Olopon, Ludo, Draughts, and Chess, all readily available for access at the NUT Ikorodu Secretariat”.

“This initiative not only provides teachers with opportunities for physical recreation but also fosters a sense of community and relaxation amidst their demanding professional responsibilities” Comrade Fakolade explains.

Highlighting the collaborative effort behind this initiative, Comrade Oluwafemi Oluwaseun extended gratitude to key stakeholders whose support has been instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition.

Special recognition was given to HRM, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, and Mrs. Anike Adekanye, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, for their unwavering support.

Furthermore, the contributions of dedicated individuals within the NUT Ikorodu branch were acknowledged, including the leadership of the Women Teachers Development (WTD) Committee led by Union 1st Vice Comrade Defunke Ranti Esan, Prince Oduntan, and the Sports Committee headed by Comrade Abuaja Innocent.

As the tenure of the current administration draws to a close, Comrade Oluwafemi Oluwaseun expressed pride in the accomplishments achieved thus far and reaffirmed the commitment to continue making a positive impact until the last day in 2025.

With the mantra of “Scaling up the Difference,” the NUT Ikorodu branch remains steadfast in its dedication to the welfare and empowerment of teachers within the community.
