
Senator Tokunbo Abiru of the Lagos East Senatorial District was honoured with a prestigious Excellence Award at the annual Liaison Group of Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID) ceremony.
The grand event, held at Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall, also served as the Ikorodu Division General Assembly and attracted numerous dignitaries and traditional rulers from across the region.
Senator Abiru, represented by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, received the award from HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom.
During the presentation, Oba Shotobi praised Senator Abiru as a credible and dedicated son of Ikorodu whose contributions to the development of the region have been remarkable.
The King highlighted the award as a reflection of Senator Abiru’s numerous accomplishments in public service and urged him to continue his impactful work, in line with his popular catchphrase, ‘DoingGood’.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Abiru, Mr. Olukotun reiterated the Senator’s relentless efforts to attract development to Lagos East.
He emphasized that Senator Abiru’s commitment to the growth and progress of his constituents is the driving force behind his achievements.
Olukotun added that the award serves as an encouragement for Senator Abiru to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Lagos East, leveraging his administrative strength to achieve more.
The event saw a host of prominent attendees, including the Ranodu of Imota, Oba Ajibade Mudashiru Bakare-Agoro, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, and other traditional heads, underscoring the region’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating exceptional leadership and service, reinforcing the collective pride and accomplishments of Ikorodu division.
Other notable recipients included Rep. Babajimi Benson, the Ikorodu federal lawmaker; Hon. Segun Dada, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Social Media; and the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor On Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agabje.
