A crucial meeting aimed at addressing the ongoing disputes at the Igbodu Sawmill Market in Ikorodu was convened on June 5, 2024.
The session brought together the Iya-Oloja of Igbodu Sawmill Market, executive council members (excos), Community Development Associations (CDAs), and other local leaders to mediate and resolve the conflicts.
The gathering focused on the importance of unity and cooperation in fostering a harmonious and productive market environment.
The leaders present emphasized that collaboration and mutual understanding are key to the market’s success and the well-being of the community.
In her address following the numerous concerns raised, Chief Mrs. (Dr) Mujidat Folashade Ojo Tinubu, the Iya-Oloja General of Nigeria, emphasized the necessity for all parties involved in the crisis, including witnesses, to report themselves to the state authorities at Alausa.
She stressed that the step was crucial for achieving a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the market’s conflicts.
“Everyone that partakes in the crisis, as well as all witnesses, should report themselves to Alausa for a better settlement and progress for the market,” Mrs. Tinubu stated.
Her call for transparency and accountability was seen as a pivotal move towards resolving the market’s issues.
The meeting served as a platform for open dialogue, where various grievances and issues were aired. Potential solutions were discussed, and the leaders reiterated their commitment to restoring peace and stability to the market.
This, they believe, will enable traders and the community to thrive once again.
“The leaders’ commitment to unity and cooperation is expected to bring about positive changes, benefiting both traders and the broader community in Ikorodu” she asserted.
Mrs. Mujidat Folashade Ojo Tinubu was received by several distinguished market leaders, including Princess Osho Adebukola Oluwakemi, Iya-Oloja of Ikorodu Central; Alhaja Monsurat Hamzat, Iya-Oloja of Igbodu Sawmill Market; Mrs. Sherifat Shodipo, Iya-Oloja of Ajina Market; Mrs. Mojisola Showole, Iyalode of Ebuooso Market; Mrs. Mojisola Dallas, Iyalode of Laketu Market; Alhaja Nimota Bakare, Iya-Oloja of Afowoji Market; Alhaja Oluwatoyin Asodun, Iya-Oloja of Better Life Market; Iya-Oloja of Alubarika Market, Babaloja of Alubarika Market, and Iya-Oloja of Sholafun Market.
