LASG INAUGURATES SCIENCE, RESEARCH, AND CYBERSECURITY BOARDS WITH N1 BILLION GRANT ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, announced the inauguration of the newly constituted Lagos State Science, Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) and the Cybersecurity Advisory Board, marking a significant advancement in the state’s scientific and technological landscape.

Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat presided over the event, unveiling a take-off grant of N1 billion to support the initial operations of both boards.

The funding demonstrates the administration’s dedication to fostering scientific innovation and strengthening cybersecurity.

“Our administration is committed to increasing the success metrics of LASRIC,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.

“With the provision of the Seed Fund, we believe this will continue to catalyze development in our State.”

Since its inception, LASRIC has supported over 70 initiatives, including projects in biomass, biodiesel, and artificial intelligence for medical imaging, boosting innovation in Lagos State by over 250%.

The Seed Fund is expected to further drive these advancements, positioning Lagos as a hub for scientific breakthroughs.

In addition to LASRIC, the newly inaugurated State Cybersecurity Advisory Board aims to establish a robust protection ecosystem.

“We emphasize the need for a comprehensive cybersecurity framework to safeguard the quality of life for all citizens,” Dr. Hamzat emphasized.

“This initiative is a significant step in our commitment to enhancing digital security and advancing our development agenda.”

The dual focus on innovation and cybersecurity reflects the administration’s strategic vision for a technologically advanced and secure Lagos State, ensuring sustainable development and improved quality of life for its residents.
