REP. BABAJIMI BENSON COMMISSIONS NEW IGBOGBO BAIYEKU LCDA ULTRA-MODERN LEGISLATIVE BUILDING, LAUDS BLDR SESAN DAINI’S SWIFT EXECUTION AS A LEGACY OF PROGRESS ~ INN Nigeria ☆



The Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has ushered in a new era of infrastructural development with the commissioning of its ultra-modern Legislative and Administrative Complex on September 16, 2024.

Originally projected for completion in 12 months, the building project was completed in just six months, showcasing the administration’s commitment to efficiency.

This impressive edifice was officially commissioned by Ikorodu Federal Lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson MHR symbolizes the council’s commitment to advancing the region and enhancing governance.

The achievement adds to a series of milestones within the LCDA, which has made significant strides in education, healthcare, road upgrades, and other critical sectors over the past seven years.

The event attracted numerous dignitaries, including Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, APC Party Chairman for Lagos State; His Royal Majesty Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa Igbogbo Kingdom; and Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC).

Also in attendance were Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State; former Minister for Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe; and Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Local council chairpersons from neighbouring areas, including Hon. Motunrayo Alogba of Ijede LCDA, Bldr. Adeola Banjo of Ikorodu North LCDA, and Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, was also present.

Political figures such as Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, Hon. Sesan Olowa, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki, and Comr. Asoro Abubakar, Vice Chairman of Lagos East NYCN, along with leaders from various community groups, also graced the occasion.

In his speech before the commissioning, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr. Sesan Daini expressed deep gratitude to the community leaders and stakeholders who supported the project.

He emphasized the significance of the new building in enhancing governance, stating, “This building is not just an edifice; it is a fulfillment of our commitment to providing a conducive environment for legislative and administrative functions.”

The state-of-the-art facility includes a 55-seater legislative chamber, offices for councillors and department heads, and workstations for staff.

Fully equipped with modern amenities, the complex reflects the administration’s focus on transparency, accountability, and service delivery.

Daini also highlighted the financial prudence exercised during the project, noting, “We have paid for this project in full, with the only remaining payments being retention fees, as required by law. We did not incur any debt or take loans to complete this building.”

Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi commended the project as bringing good governance closer to the grassroots, which he described as crucial for effective community engagement.

“The creation of LCDAs has allowed for more direct engagement with the people, ensuring that local councils can advocate more effectively for community needs,” Ojelabi remarked.

He praised Daini’s leadership and his dedication to the progressive ideals of the APC, highlighting the chairman’s role in completing the project ahead of schedule.

Kamal Bayewu, Chairman of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, lauded the progress made under Daini’s leadership.

“This building represents the tangible results of an administration focused on development,” Bayewu said, adding that Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA has demonstrated strong performance in revenue generation and financial management.

Rep. Babajimi Benson, who commissioned the new building, emphasized its role in strengthening the legislative arm of the LCDA.

“This building will enable councillors to carry out their duties more effectively, contributing to the growth and development of the community,” Benson stated.

He also reflected on his own legislative achievements at the national level, including the passage of five bills that have positively impacted the Ikorodu division.

Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, and Prince Abiodun Ogunleye expressed their admiration for the progress being made in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA under Daini’s leadership, urging continued support for future initiatives.

The event concluded with remarks from Hon. Halimi Esota, Leader of the Igbogbo Legislative Council, who thanked the community for its ongoing support and trust.

Esota assured attendees that the legislative arm would continue to work tirelessly to meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

The new Legislative and Administrative Building marks a paradigm shift in Igbogbo Baiyeku’s journey toward becoming a modern, thriving community, with governance that is transparent, efficient, and responsive to the needs of its people.
