The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the construction of an airstrip for Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, the global headquarters of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel.
This announcement was made by the founder and presiding Bishop, Dr. David Oyedepo, during the Tehillah Night Special Edition, held at the Covenant University Chapel in Ota, Ogun State, on Sunday.
Bishop Oyedepo highlighted the significance of this development, which will enable him to travel directly from the church premises, eliminating the need for the use of a helicopter to reach the airport.
He emphasized that the airstrip would also serve the needs of church members who own planes, allowing them to land and park within the church’s vast premises.
In his address, Oyedepo remarked, “I am sure you will be glad to know that the Federal Government has approved an airstrip for Canaanland. I won’t need to fly a helicopter to the airport. I can leave from here to wherever I am going. Members with their planes will have where to land and park.”
The new airstrip is expected to greatly improve transportation for worshippers and visitors attending large-scale events held at the church, such as the annual Shiloh convention, which attracts thousands of attendees from around the globe.
During the event, Bishop Oyedepo also spoke about the success of Covenant University graduates who have excelled in their respective fields, specifically mentioning those who now work as pilots flying him across destinations.
He encouraged the congregation to discover their purpose in God’s plan, citing the accomplishments of these graduates as examples of individuals who pursued their calling.
“Won’t you be glad to know that there are some captains that fly me who are graduates of Covenant University? We don’t have an aviation department here, but they found their place in God and went after it. That’s what this university is all about, it’s not about boxing you up. It’s about allowing you to locate God’s plan and pursue it accordingly. Young people, don’t play away your life. You don’t have a spare,” he urged.
The Tehillah Night special edition served as a grand thanksgiving celebration, held in honour of Bishop Oyedepo’s recent 70th birthday milestone, marked earlier in September.
Attendees expressed gratitude for his leadership and dedication to the ministry, while the bishop used the occasion to reflect on the growth of the church and its impact on the lives of millions around the world.
The construction of the airstrip adds to Canaanland’s expanding infrastructure, which includes Covenant University, Faith Academy, and several other projects aimed at serving the global Christian community.
This development coincides with the church’s plan to commission its over 100,000-capacity ARK Church in November 2025.
