IKORODU DIVISION HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT BOARD HOSTS 5TH EDUCATION STAKEHOLDERS’ SUMMIT, HONOURS EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board (IDHRDB), under the auspices of the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), successfully held the 5th edition of its Education Stakeholders’ Summit on October 10, 2024.

Themed “Family Structure, Child Socialization, and Children’s Holistic Development,” the event took place at the Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall, drawing a significant audience of dignitaries and community leaders.

The summit was graced by notable royal fathers, including His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu; HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo; and HRM Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo.

Other esteemed figures present included Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a prominent member of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC); Dr. Saheed Ibikunle; Chief Kinle Adewahab; Professor Ganiu Ishola Agbaje, who chaired the event; Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya; and several principals and educational administrators.

The summit focused on the critical role family structure and child socialization play in shaping the holistic development of children.

Arc. Taiwo Akintunde Kara, Chairman of IDRDG, emphasized the importance of this year’s theme, noting that the summit had evolved into a crucial platform for fostering dialogue and innovation in education.

“As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, it is imperative to continuously reassess our strategies to ensure they meet the evolving needs of society,” Kara stated.

Bashorun Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa, Chairman of IDHRDB, acknowledged the summit as a significant step towards transforming education.

He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between families, schools, and communities in nurturing well-rounded individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to society.

Rotinwa also highlighted the rapid evolution of the educational landscape, calling on stakeholders to focus on the holistic development of learners.

The event featured a keynote presentation by Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, who addressed systemic factors impacting child development and education, such as economic inequalities and the breakdown of traditional family structures.

Ogunyemi advocated for collaborative efforts to strengthen families as foundational platforms for early learning and socialization.

Awards were presented to various individuals and groups for their outstanding contributions to education and community service.

Political dignitaries, prominent families, and the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) were recognized for their efforts in promoting peace and stability.

In the education sector, awards were given to the best principals, teachers, and students in the division, including the best WAEC students, best BECE students, and Best Primary School.

Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, praised the initiative, emphasizing that recognizing excellence in education will inspire students and educators to strive for higher achievements.

The summit highlighted the division’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in education and nurturing future leaders.
