
LAGOS, NIGERIA – The 2025/1446 Ramadan Lecture and Zakat/Sadaqat Disbursement organized by the IBILE Muslim Community took center stage on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Marquee Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The event aimed at fostering unity among Lagos Muslims while extending financial support to less privileged faithful across the IBILE divisions of the state.
The program featured Quranic recitations, a short documentary, a session on “The IBILE ZSF Unique,” keynote messages, donations, and a public lecture that emphasized the essence of charity and communal togetherness during Ramadan.
Speaking on behalf of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje delivered a message calling for peace, forgiveness, and unity among Muslim faithful during the holy month.
He emphasized that Ramadan is a time for reflection, patience, and reconciliation, urging Muslims to embrace forgiveness in all situations where they may have been wronged.
He further highlighted the importance of the gathering, stating:
“This coming together of Muslim associations will strengthen the community development of Lagos State.”
He also noted that the event fosters interpersonal relationships among Muslims in the IBILE regions, which is key to ensuring peaceful coexistence and social harmony.
Dr. Agbaje reaffirmed that the Lagos State Government remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote religious harmony and social welfare.
The event attracted a high-profile gathering of Islamic scholars, government officials, and community leaders, including: Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State; Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District; Fadlilat Sheikh Imam Sheifdeen Ayinla Olowooribi, Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division; Sheikh Abdul Hakeem Isola Akewusola, Grand Chief Imam of Badagry Division; Sheikh Sadallah Abdul Rahman Abiola Aliru, Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division; Mr. Lukman Adedeji, Associate Professor of Islamic Studies, UNILAG; Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN); Nasir Giwa, Traditional rulers across the state and others.
As the high point of the event, cash support was presented to less privileged Muslim faithful across the IBILE regions, reinforcing the spirit of Ramadan – charity, generosity, and compassion.
The program concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and continuous development in Lagos State, as the IBILE Muslim Community pledged to sustain the initiative in future Ramadan seasons.
