As part of his commitment to religious harmony and inclusivity, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, hosted members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos East, for a special Lent sermon and prayer session.
This follows his earlier engagement with thousands of Muslims across Lagos East during the Ramadan lecture series, which concluded with a grand finale at the Ikorodu Eid Prayer Ground, Ota-Ona, Ikorodu, attracting prominent Islamic scholars and leaders.
During the Lent sermon, Rev. Omotoso Johnson emphasized the importance of kindness and mercy, urging Christians to emulate Senator Abiru, whom he described as a leader dedicated to the welfare of all constituents. Citing Acts 10:38, he remarked, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him,” and highlighted the event as a celebration of goodwill.
Representing Senator Abiru at the gathering held at the Ikorodu Constituency office, Hon. Olusegun Olulade, Executive Director, Customer Centricity and Marketing at Galaxy Backbone Limited, called on Christians to persist in prayers for the nation’s restoration.
“The Christian community must remain a pillar of hope, actively participating in civic responsibilities, community service, and intercessory prayers for national transformation,” he stated, referencing 2 Chronicles 7:14. He encouraged collective prayers for wisdom, peace, and prosperity in Lagos East, Lagos State, and Nigeria.
Rev. Joshua Ojo, CAN leader in Lagos East, commended Senator Abiru for his fairness and commitment to all constituents, irrespective of religious affiliations.
Hon. (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola, in her vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the Christian community for their unwavering support.
Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, Alhaja Sherifat Abiodun Ogunniyi, Alhaji Musiliu Sulaiman (Ola 4), and other notable dignitaries.
