EDUCATION DISTRICT II BIDS EMOTIONAL FAREWELL TO TG/PS ANIKE ADEKANYE IN GRAND SEND-FORTH CEREMONY ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Maryland, Lagos – In a heartwarming celebration of service, commitment, and legacy, the Education District II of Lagos State hosted a prestigious send-forth ceremony in honour of the outgoing Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Mrs. Anike Adekanye.

The event, which took place recently at the District Headquarters in Maryland, was a collaborative effort of the staff of Education District II, the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), Lagos State Chapter, and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the district. It marked another highlight in a series of pre-retirement activities for the revered education administrator.

Mrs. Adekanye, who served with distinction, was celebrated for her meritorious years of service and impactful leadership in Lagos State’s education sector.

Delivering a message on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Honourable Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Bisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, lauded the celebrant’s legacy. “She was able to contribute immensely to the development of education in the state. She was an inspiration to others and her dedication was second to none,” she remarked.

In her goodwill address, Mrs. Kafayat Ajenifuja, representing the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), described Mrs. Adekanye as a trailblazer whose tenure was characterised by excellence, discipline, and innovation. “Your legacy in District II will be felt for years to come. Your unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and profound commitment to the advancement of education in Lagos State have left an indelible mark,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District IV, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike, commended the celebrant for her significant contributions to raising the standard of education in Lagos. He noted that both the teaching service and the state at large would miss her dearly.

The send-forth ceremony drew an array of dignitaries including Board members from the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, Board members of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Tutor-Generals/Permanent Secretaries from other education districts, the Chairman of the Lagos State Public Service Club, and retired TG/PS of Education District VI, Dr. (Mrs.) Sherifatu Yusuf.

In an emotional response, Mrs. Adekanye expressed heartfelt gratitude. “I am overwhelmed by this show of love and appreciation. Serving Education District II and Lagos State at large has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I thank everyone who walked this journey with me,” she said. She also took a moment to acknowledge the steadfast support of her family, especially her husband, Hon. Oladele Adekanye, for his unwavering encouragement throughout her career.

The event featured heartfelt tributes, cultural performances by students, and the presentation of gifts, all of which underscored the respect and admiration Mrs. Adekanye earned throughout her career.

More than just a farewell, the ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy Mrs. Anike Adekanye leaves behind in shaping the future of education in Lagos State.
