Anthony village Snr. Grammar school startled their event with mind-blowing compliances at the Debate Competition, emerging champion, while IPAKODO Snr secondary school, Ikorodu emerged 3rd Best. Seven developing athletes from Mende Senior High, Oreyo Junior Grammar School, Yewa Junior Grammar School, Community senior Grammar School and Gbagada senior Grammar School influenced the just concluded National Secondary School Athletics Trials in Abeokuta. The schools were selected to represent Nigeria at the International Secondary Schools Athletics Competition 2023 in Turkey. Their counterparts from Ipakodo Senior Grammar School emerged as swimming champions at the National Sports Festival, Delta 2022. Young scientists from Oriwu Snr model college, Ikorodu, CMS Girls Snr secondary school & Eva Adelaja girls Jnr secondary school, Bariga respectively presented mind-blowing inventions like the Carbon Footprint Kit (CFP KIT), Solar Cooker & Bio-Ethanol Production as alternative Source of energy which ranked as best at the 2022 Annual Celebration of World Science Day in Lagos State, emerging 2nd, 4th & 5th positions! Odogunyan Jnr grammar school, Ikorodu came 2nd best, while Elepe Jnr Secondary School, Ikorodu came 3rd position in the Junior Category! Ipakodo Snr grammar school emerged winner of the Lagos State Bible Society Of Nigeria Quiz for the Deaf. It was also a standing ovation for the Drama Troupe from Government Junior Secondary School, Ikorodu as their flawless creative display beat all others, positioning them as the Undisputed Champion Of The Ministry Of Justice - Human Rights Day Celebration. Receiving the schools, Mrs Anike Adekanye, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 2 expressed great belief in the abilities of the emerging athletes, Scientists, Artists, Debaters, and Singers. She exhorted them to always pursue creativity, invention, discipline, confidence, brilliance as well as academic excellence. Noting that the victories are part of the specks being enforced in Education District 2 towards fulfilling the tenets of the Education and Technology Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. She also pointed out that the Governor has always delivered great platforms for Lagos State students to thrive, appreciating the strategic piloting of the development of Education in Lagos State by Mrs Adefisayo Folasade, the Honourable Commissioner. Celebrating the brilliance, creativity, invention, passion and grit possessed by the teams, she added that their hard work and devotion would earn them personal development and fulfilment in life. Mrs Adekanye concluded by praising the handlers of the District's contingents for working assiduously to uphold the culture of creativity, excellence and progress in the District.

OVER 300 RESIDENT GETS FREE HEALTH CHECK-UP, DRUGS & CONSULTATION, COMMUNITY MEDICS TAKES OFF IN IGBOGBO BAIYEKU LCDA ®™√ INN Nigeria © 44ok4m4mm3m302597401774760105 Dwellers of Selewu community in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA were crammed with gratitude and commendation towards Princess Abiodun Islamiyat Oyefusi, as she kick-starts her free health scheme tagged 'Community Medics' across Lagos State. The daughter of the former Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom launched her highly publicised medical program on the 3rd of June 2023. Despite the downpour which occur in the early hours of the day, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi took her team of medical experts and volunteer workers to the community and sets up canopies and chairs to cater to residents, who enlisted to profit from the health-oriented scheme. From diabetes, Blood Pressure tests, to malaria and other medical treatments, the program gave residents sufficient aid, culminating with medical physicians on the ground to advise patients with complicated health issues. A dispensary point was also created to administer free drugs to beneficiaries, as residents applauded the laudable health scheme. Speaking to members of the Press who were present, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi described the program as a means for her to support communities in Lagos State. She explained that health is vital to the well-being of every individual, which made it paramount for her to tilt towards creating the community medics initiative. "This program will randomly touch selected communities around Lagos State, I only choose to start in Ikorodu because it's my base, and as you know, charity begins from home". "Most times, people are afraid to go to the hospital for a minor check-up which would give a remedy to their health challenges, they refuse because they believe it's expensive". "That is why am propelling this course as a form of a mobile clinic to reach neighbourhoods and cater to their numerous illnesses before it gets complicated," Princess Oyefusi said Tirimisyu Uthman, a youth corper, who resides in Selewu town lauded the organisers of the program. He cheered the orderliness and effective coordination of the health scheme, which he participated in along with his father. Communicating further, he said, "The process is fast and organisers are doing a very favourable job". "I've seen medical programs like this, and before you realize it, medical practitioners will start requesting money for some particular services, but here, I can say there is nothing of such, it is free from start to finish". "If this health program is run by a private individual then I must commend their efforts towards achieving this course" Uthman asserted Another resident, Mrs Ebi Johnson conveyed joy and thanked the organisers for bringing the health program to their community. Mrs Johnson, who explained the significance of the program to herself, said the program has assisted her in reducing the cost of going to the pharmacy to undergo tests and acquire drugs. She and her 10yr old daughter gained from the program. "With a program like this, we'll easily detect sickness in our body that we're not mindful of, and also prevent lingering illness from our body" She added. In all, over 300 residents benefited from the program.

ZEBRA CROSSING: IKORODU PECULIAR LIONS CLUB CREATES SAFE CROSSING PATH FOR SHAMS-EL-DEEN SCHOOL STUDENTS IN IKORODU ®™√ INN Nigeria © eooekemmdmm3976505122441808413 Principal of Shams-EL-Deen Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Mrs Kadijat Bolatito Adedeji, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, on the implementation of a Zebra crossing project for the school. The undertaking was completed by the club on the 2nd of June 2023, aimed at safeguarding students using the road subway during the school's morning and afternoon duration. Mrs Adedeji, impressed with the freewill task of the club, said the supportive job won a special place in her heart because it prioritises the safety of her pupils. According to the Principal, a safety program she had earlier attended, gave her the growing concern to assemble a similar project for the school (due to how motorists operate the road). She tells further, "I never knew how to make it happen, so it was a stuff of amazement watching the club coming out of the blue to get it done for our children". "With zebra crossing like this, it will make drivers careful in moving through this axis and keep our students safe as well". "I cannot thank members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club enough for what they've done to aid the school, but I know that my God will bless them tremendously" She asserted. Illustrating the essence of the project to the students and school officials (who came out collectively to inspect the work), Lion David Akinosho, Charter President of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, said Zebra crossing is a prudent footpath that serves as a caution to motorists. He continued, "The importance of this track is to assist students in traversing the road, and prevent drivers from steering recklessly". "Any driver who understands what driving is all about is meant to slow down immediately they set their sight on this Zebra crossing track". "It is a crime (and punishable offence) for motorists not to stop or decelerate, particularly when someone is utilising this route to cross the road," He said. Lion Akinosho further urged the students not to abuse the use of the pathway since they've comprehended its usage, adding that their manner of maintaining the walkway will make other road users do the same. He subsequently instructed the students to take the information given to them about the Zebra crossing to the rest of their classmates and even to their parents at home. The project was supervised by Lion Kayode Aluko, Project Coordinator, Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club.
