The Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club executed a tree planting project at the prestigious Oshodi Art Gallery, located along Itokin Road, Ikorodu, on Thursday, 24th of April 2025, in a remarkable demonstration of environmental stewardship.
The impactful project was meticulously coordinated by Lion Kayode Aluko, the Club’s dedicated Service Chairperson, alongside Lion Sanusi Aminat, the outgoing President, and Lion Dr. Oshodi Seyi Paul, the incoming President of the Club.
Their leadership underscored the club’s commitment to fostering a greener and healthier environment for the local community.
The exercise saw the active participation of several committed club members, including Lion Nuga Femi, Lion Amaechi Ukamaka, Lion Fuad Alapufuja, Lion Quadri Sulaiman, Lion Kumapayi Foluso, and Lion Oshodi Ganiyat, who all joined hands to plant trees around the expansive grounds of the Oshodi Art Gallery.
The project not only symbolizes the Club’s devotion to environmental sustainability but also aligns with the broader Lions Clubs International global cause to promote environmental awareness and combat climate change through tree planting initiatives.
Speaking on the importance of tree planting, Lion Kayode Aluko emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and how such initiatives contribute to combating the adverse effects of global warming.
“Tree planting is one of the most effective ways to restore our environment, and as Lions, we are proud to take action that positively impacts our community,” he stated.
Lion Sanusi Aminat appreciated the collective effort of the members and expressed confidence in the club’s continued growth and service impact under the incoming leadership.
Lion Dr. Oshodi Seyi Paul, the incoming president, pledged to build upon the Club’s environmental initiatives and broaden its reach to engage more community members in future projects.
