OBA SHOTOBI COMMISSIONS 346-METRE ADEKAYAOJA–SOLOMADE BYPASS ROAD AS HON. ADESINA DELIVERS LANDMARK INFRASTRUCTURE IN IKORODU ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, further solidified his administration’s legacy with the commissioning of the 346-metre Adekayaoja–Solomade Bypass Road — a key infrastructure project aimed at easing mobility and stimulating economic activity in Ikorodu Central.

The commissioning ceremony was presided over by His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, who described the project as historic, long-lasting, and central to the town’s development.

The event drew the attendance of prominent dignitaries, including council staff, councillors, the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Lateef Afinni; the Leader of the House, Hon. Adebowale Adebola; Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, Chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS); traditional rulers (Baales), political leaders, community stakeholders, members of the WADESH Babes support group, the APC Woman Leader in Ikorodu Division, Alhaja Rashidat Bello; and the Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu Division, Deaconess Busola Isikalu, as well as the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and Ikorodu APC Apex Leader, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye.

Delivering his address, Hon. Adesina explained that the road project was born out of a thorough community needs assessment, responding to years of complaints about the previous poor state of the road, which posed safety and economic challenges.

“This road was identified for rehabilitation because of its strategic importance. It connects Etunrenren to the palace and the council secretariat, linking important civic and cultural institutions.”

“We’ve transformed it into a safe, accessible, and durable route for residents, motorists, and traders alike,” Adesina said.

The road, according to Council Engineer Mr. Oladapo Oluseyi spans 346 metres in length and features dual-side covered concrete drainage measuring 692 metres in total — a design aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience.

In his remarks, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi praised both the execution and impact of the project:

“Adesina is working, and Ikorodu is moving — that is why we are here. From the quality of the construction, this road can last between 30 to 50 years.”

“I must commend not only the chairman but also the council engineer for a job well done. This is a historic and strategic road that adds to the dignity of our kingdom,” the monarch stated.

He further urged Ikorodu residents to remain politically conscious and reward good governance by supporting leaders with credible track records like Hon. Adesina.

Prince Abiodun Ogunleye added his voice, describing the local government chairman as a committed and visionary leader.

“Adesina is a performing chairman who has proven his mettle in office. The party made the right decision backing him, and today’s commissioning is another feather in his cap,” Ogunleye remarked.

Both Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, Chairman of the Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), and Deaconess Busola Isikalu, the Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu Division, commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, for creating a lasting legacy through impactful infrastructural projects such as the Adekayaoja–Solomade Bypass Road.

They noted that such developments not only enhance the aesthetics and accessibility of the community but also serve as a testament to purposeful leadership and visionary governance.

The road commissioning comes just a day after Hon. Adesina unveiled the Jeitan Ultra-Modern Mini Market, which forms part of what the council now designates as its “Project Week” — a week dedicated to showcasing the administration’s achievements.

During his speech, Adesina expressed gratitude to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the state’s supervisory support, and reflected on his journey as a two-term chairman.

“We did not leave the local government the way we met it. We have laid a solid foundation, and I believe the incoming administration will improve upon it. Let the records speak — Ikorodu has progressed,” he affirmed.

He also commended the Ayangburen for his fatherly role and maturity, even during periods of political disagreement, calling their reconciliation a testament to leadership and unity.

The chairman concluded by urging residents to adopt a sense of shared responsibility:

“Public infrastructure belongs to all of us. Let us maintain this road with care and pride. It is a symbol of what we can achieve together when leadership listens and the community cooperates.”

With the successful commissioning of the 346-metre Adekayaoja–Solomade Bypass, Hon. Wasiu Adesina leaves an indelible mark on the landscape of Ikorodu Local Government — one built on vision, service, and community-driven progress.
