He continued, "The idea of the Education Stakeholders' Summit was birthed in 2009 after a survey of the education sector of the Division Was conducted by members of the Human Resources Development Board". "The survey revealed a downward trend in the education system which pointed out that a large number of students of the Division recorded poor performance in their final year examinations due to many factors such as poor attitude to learning, shortage of teachers in some subject areas, school environments that were not conducive for learning and teaching as they lacked basic infrastructure with a dearth of teaching instructions and parents' lukewarm attitude to their wards' education amongst others". "Having noted these, the IDRDG resolved that if urgent action was not taken, the situation could be exacerbated" Prof. Asserted. Further explaining that the importance of STEM education in schools cannot be over-emphasised in teaching students more science and mathematics-oriented subjects, Prof. Wahab pointed out that real-world poultices which help to develop a variety of skill sets for creativity and competitiveness in the 21st century are the new normal and Ikorodu Division must not be lagging. In addition, seven persons have been invited as discussants to give their perspectives. In conclusion, I want to appreciate members of the Planning Committee for their time, resource and sacrifice to ensure the success of today's programme and I also congratulate members of IDRDG and IDHRDB on this feat.

Additionally that according to research, over ten thousand (10,000) students sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Ikorodu Division of the state and if 50 per cent of the students are encouraged to study science-oriented subjects, it will mean twenty-five thousand (25,000) STEM graduates would be produced in five years.
