9098uijggyuu424246991497298322 The Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, received the founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo at his palace on the 8th of June 2023.
Pastor Ashimolowo, who's also the President of Christ Compassion To The Rural World, paid a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of the waterbed region in Lagos State, with plans to organise an international convention on the last quatre of 2023.
Approximately 80 communities in the central axis of Ikorodu Central were fully represented at the palace, culminating with high chiefs, Ayangbure-in-council, and baales.
Olori Abosede Kudirat Shotobi, wife of HRM, Sat by the side of the king as Ikorodu received the foremost clergyman.
Welcoming the Founder and his delegates, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, special aid to the king, described the visit as a moment of joy to see Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo back in Ikorodu.
He said, "We learnt that your missionary career started here in Ikorodu many years ago, and we're pleased to see God bringing you back, not only to see us but also to come and advance the Kingdom of God here".
"From the information I've gathered, the International convention to be organised by KICC in Ikorodu is a pleasant and laudable idea, which we're looking forward to amassing with open arms".
"We want to let you know that every assistance you need which the palace can provide, on behalf of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Consider it done!" Otunba Elesho affirmed.
Elesho also said that the palace will not just support the convention physically, but will also join the church in prayers to ensure the program ends up successful.
Before speaking about the program, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo reminded everyone that he had lived in Ikorodu 49years ago and left the waterbed region some 47years ago, adding that it's a great feeling to be able to come back, and this time with the good news of Jesus Christ to touch the city.
Illustrating the program proper to the King and all present at the palace, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, said the assignment which is billed to undertake a major outreach in the Ikorodu division was placed in his heart by God after 3years of fervent prayers. According to him, the program which will run for 7 consecutive days will provide welfare packages to cater to 50,000 residents in Ikorodu. Food items, clothes and educational gadgets for students will also be disbursed during the week-long program.
He continued, "Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), during the program, will support 200-300 families requiring medical operations with free surgeries at Ikorodu General Hospital".
"60 million naira worth of prescription drugs will be doled out to residents after people have been diagnosed to know the right medication needed".
Pastor Matthew illustrated that the last Saturday of the program will be a medical affair where Igbogbo Stadium (the venue for the convention) will be converted into an open hospital to cater for health-challenged individuals. And on that same Saturday night, there will be a major evening crusade. "We're aware that Igbogbo Stadium is still under construction as we speak, but before coming here, we had a meeting with the Lagos State Government, and we've been told that the stadium will be completed by September, before the program set date (in November)".
"Nigeria is at a crossroads and we're going through a lot of challenges, we must bring help, relief and blessing to the people in Ikorodu" Pastor Ashimolowo asserted
Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo later presented 'The Power Of Positive Prayers', a book he authored that contains 15,000 prayer points to the King.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, in his speech, thanked Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo for coming to Ikorodu, calling the day remarkable.
Oba Kabiru said though Pastor Ashimolowo found his way back to Ikorodu, He (the King) has been peeking to meet with the clergyman for quite some time.
He continued, "When Pastor Adeboye, founder of the Redeem Christian Church of God came to Ikorodu for a special program, I requested he prayed for LASPOTECH to become a University, he did and it came to pass". "Later, when Pastor Folorunsho Kumuyi of Deeper Life Church visited Ikorodu for another special program, I requested he prayed for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the next President of Nigeria, he did and today we have him as President".
"For our dear Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, I only have one request for him, he should pray for us that the next Governor of Lagos State should come from Ikorodu because we're long overdue for it".
The King also suggested that the venue for the convention be shifted to LASUSTECH to have a bigger space. Pastor Ashimolowo subsequently gave reasons as to why the church decided to use Igbogbo Stadium. Oba Shotobi prayed for the church to continue to expand across the globe, adding that Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo should make KICC more visible in Ikorodu.
Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) Chairman, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo gave the closing remarks by appreciating Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo for allowing God to direct him back to Ikorodu, asserting that the entire division will be gazing ahead to work with his positive course.
Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo was accompanied by; Pastor Wole Oladiyun, Chief Mrs Folukemi Olusanya, Rev. Dr Janet Onaolapo, Rev. Jet Bankole, Dr Julie Emakpo, Commander Peter Olabode, Pst Ben Oyebanji, Rev. Dapo Taiwo, Pastor Ebenezer Olushola, Mugagi Olawole among others.
The event will hold from the 6th to the 11th of November 2023.

93kekekekk3112436405865888318 The Board of Trustees, SAIL Foundation, officially launched the SAIL Innovation Lab facility in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Friday. The facility, which provides in-demand tech skills to motivated youths within the senatorial district, is an initiative by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru and his wife, Mrs Feyisola Abiru. In attendance at the official commissioning of the facility were prominent personalities including His Excellency, the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima; His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); some members of the Lagos State Executive Council; royal fathers; community leaders, as well as corporate and technical partners. Selected participants from previous cohorts of the programmes offered at the lab were also present to witness the commissioning.
The Vice President-elect who had earlier visited before the arrival of Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his goodwill remarks, commended Senator Abiru and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, who is also Co-founder, for the initiative and expressed his confidence in the huge success stories that the innovation lab will birth in the coming days. Senator Shettima said, “ I was overwhelmed with what I saw. It is a world-class facility, erected within the community for the betterment of the community people which is the hallmark of leadership, the epitome of trailblazing service to humanity. I want to commend Senator Abiru and his wife”. Delivering his keynote address, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the entire Abiru family for carrying on with the legacy of service of their late patriarch, Senator (Honourable Justice) Mubasheer Akanbi Abiru.
Commending the effectiveness of public-private partnerships in scaling up the impacts of initiatives like the SAIL Innovation Lab, Governor Sanwo-Olu also went further to convey the commitment of his administration to ensure that Lagos State continues to set the pace in the tech space in Nigeria and on the continent.
Respected figures in Nigeria's tech ecosystem commended the vision of SAIL founders. They averred that the SAIL Innovation Lab holds great prospects for the sustainable empowerment of young people in the Lagos East Senatorial District and beyond. Dr Bosun Tijani, Co-founder of Co-Creation Hub, and a Trustee of SAIL Foundation, the owners of the lab, expressed confidence in the success of the SAIL Innovation Lab.
He said, “ It is our young people that drive innovation and growth. We have to engage and empower them to be able to do this driving. Numerous people are doing amazing things. It is what these people are doing that will drive innovation in our community. That is why the SAIL Innovation Lab is special. Young people in Lagos East Senatorial District will start to build solutions. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is here. The future we are looking up to is already being controlled by technology. We have to participate and if not, it will be second-level colonisation”. Microsoft Country Manager, Ms Ola Williams was thrilled by the passion the Distinguished Senator has for young people. He and his wife, through SAIL, have provided a platform for enduring and sustainable development. She revealed that Microsoft was willing to synergize with SAIL for greater impact.
Meta (Facebook) Head of Public Policy in Nigeria, Adaora Oshodi-Ikenze, described the SAIL Innovation Lab facility as world-class. She said the facility and the quality of faculty can stand shoulder to shoulder with any Innovation Lab in the world. Managing Director, of Bank of Industries, Mr Olukayode Pitan said the SAIL Innovation Lab demonstrates Senator Abiru’s passion for youth development and capacity building. He added that the Innovation Lab will impact greatly on the people of Lagos East Senatorial District. The SAIL Innovation Lab was set up in 2021 in partnership with Co-Creation Hub. Since its inception, over 490 participants have benefitted from the several programmes in person, while over 2,000 have participated in the online programmes. The innovation lab, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, is managed 100% by Co-Creation Hub, one of the biggest innovation hubs in Africa, and highly-trained facilitators who deliver the wide range of programmes the facility offers.
Mrs Feyisola Abiru, Co-founder of the innovation lab, noted that the innovation lab was the first of its kind in the Lagos East Senatorial District and encouraged the attendees to “revel in the fact that all of us here are making history together.”
The programmes currently offered include Tech Talent Development Programme; STEM for Senior Secondary School Students; Lagos East Teachers Fellowship; Start-Up Accelerator; and Community Events and Ecosystem Engagements. In June 2023, the Innovation Lab is starting training in Data Science for Society. The call for applications is already open to interested applicants. Speaking on the vision behind the SAIL Innovation Lab and why it needed to be done, Senator Abiru: “Many years ago, it was enough to go to school and train to be a professional in a particular field - law, accounting, broadcasting, engineering, medicine and other disciplines. However, the realities of today have completely changed…the illiterate of today, not the future, would not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot speak the new language of the world. "The new language of the world is tech - this is why the setting up of the SAIL Innovation Lab became necessary. It is not a project of the future. It is a project of today; one that needed to be done. Tech is the way and it was important to provide a platform for our ingenious youth in this district.“ Speaking further, he raised that the idea was to “deepen the acceptance of tech innovation in the Lagos East Senatorial District, using a human-centred approach. ”
The siting of the permanent location of the SAIL Innovation Lab was made possible by the support of the members of the Abiru family who agreed to dedicate their family home for this purpose. This is in continuation of the legacy of their late patriarch, Senator (Honourable Justice) Mubasheeru Akanbi Abiru, a distinguished jurist and prominent son of Lagos state. The SAIL Innovation Centre will continue to promote support for youths in the Lagos East Senatorial District, making a difference with the power that digital innovations give.

The council boss made the statement on the 11th of May 2023, at the council secretariat as the Lagos State Government kick-started its distribution of Agriculture inputs and Production assets to fishing and farming clusters/communities.
Aimed at supporting agricultural value chain enterprises, the program targets fish/poultry production/processing, cold storage solutions, and horticulture operations.
According to the chairman, programs of this essence bolster the productive preferences of any economy, building a functional penchant for people.
