NAIDS-NATIONAL SET TO LAUNCH “BOY AND GIRL CHILD” SCHOOL OUTREACH TO RESHAPE GEN Z IN IKORODU DIVISION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

The National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS-NATIONAL), in collaboration with the Children, Youth and Women Empowerment Initiative (ChiYoWo) and the Access to Learning and School (ATLAS) Initiative, is set to launch a bold and impactful outreach program titled “Boy and Girl Child.”

Scheduled to take place from the 7th to the 10th of July 2025 across selected secondary schools in Ikorodu Division, the initiative—titled “Reshaping Gen Z Minds Towards a Brighter and More Insightful Future”—aims to transform the mindset of senior secondary school students and redirect their focus toward values rooted in integrity, diligence, discipline, and self-worth.

This initiative, driven by the leadership of Comrade Ogunbowale Olatayo Bodunrin, President of NAIDS-NATIONAL, is in response to the growing concern over harmful ideologies that have taken root among many young people.

In recent years, a distressing trend has emerged where young boys are misled into believing that cybercrime, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, or ritual practices offer quick paths to wealth and relevance.

Similarly, a growing number of young girls are increasingly conditioned to depend solely on material support from boyfriends, sidelining education, personal growth, and the pursuit of legitimate goals.

Recognizing the long-term dangers of these societal shifts, the school outreach program is designed as a grassroots intervention.

Through direct engagement with students, interactive discussions, and mentorship-driven sessions, the program seeks to deconstruct these toxic narratives and replace them with values that emphasize honest living, academic pursuit, and self-driven purpose.

The sessions will be held in two batches daily — morning sessions from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and afternoon sessions from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Comrade Ogunbowale, in a statement ahead of the launch, affirmed that the program is not intended to condemn young people but to awaken them to the truth that the path of integrity and hard work remains the most enduring route to success.

He emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with the right orientation before their worldviews are fully formed, stating that early investment in their mindset can help prevent future social and economic crises.

As part of its efforts to promote academic excellence, NAIDS-NATIONAL will provide students with essential learning materials throughout the outreach.

Beyond the school visits, the initiative also seeks to foster active participation from the wider community.

NAIDS-NATIONAL and its partners are calling on schools, parents, religious and traditional leaders, NGOs, and stakeholders in education and youth development to join hands in supporting this timely cause.

With the full cooperation of these partners, the program envisions a new wave of young individuals who will take pride in their identities, stay committed to personal development, and uphold values that strengthen communities.

As the countdown begins to the launch of this initiative, expectations are high that it will mark the beginning of a cultural shift among secondary school students in Ikorodu Division.

The vision is clear: to rescue a generation from misguided values and to instil in them the tools they need to build a future anchored in purpose, character, and excellence.
