In preparation for the forthcoming July 12 Local Government Elections in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) launched an energetic three-day campaign tour on Monday, July 7, 2025, with a spectacular rally across Ikorodu Constituency I.
The campaign rally in Ikorodu Constituency I, which comprised Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West LCDA, and Ikorodu North LCDA, was held in support of the various APC candidates: Prince Adebayo Abayomi Ladega, Hon. Olarenwaju Sulaimon Kazeem (SKO), and Hon. Olawale Apanishile Ameen, respectively.
Widely regarded as the most vibrant political event in the division’s recent history, the campaign trail kicked off with a lively procession from the APC Secretariat in Ota-Ona, Ikorodu.
The rally train cruised through major communities including Itamaga, Nasfat, Akasolori, Odogunyan, Agric, Owutu, Isawo, Ogolonto, Ipakodo Sekumade Road, Ojogbe, and Ireshe, before culminating at Ita-Elewa, near the Ikorodu Post Office.
Draped in party colours and paraphernalia, thousands of loyal APC supporters filled the streets, singing campaign anthems and chanting slogans in support of the party’s candidates.
The wave of support underscored the grassroots connection between the APC and the residents of Ikorodu Constituency I.
Candidates contesting for Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship positions across Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North, and Ikorodu West LCDAs joined the rally, using the opportunity to engage directly with the electorate and present their agenda for continued local development.
Beyond campaigning, the event also served as a strong reaffirmation of allegiance to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
Political analysts view the gathering as a powerful statement of APC’s entrenched political presence in the region and a display of unity within the party’s ranks.
Leading APC figures from within the division graced the occasion, delivering messages of continuity, growth, and improved governance.
Party member Alhaji Kola Ahmed described the event as a clear demonstration of the people’s trust in the APC’s leadership and their dedication to driving local development.
“The sheer number of supporters that turned out today clearly shows the trust our people have in APC’s leadership and their belief in the party’s vision for sustainable development,” he remarked.
The momentum from the rally in Constituency I will now shift to Ikorodu Constituency II on Tuesday, July 8, as the APC aims to replicate the overwhelming enthusiasm seen on the first day.
The campaign will continue with more stops across the division as the countdown to the council elections intensifies.
As political activity heats up in Ikorodu, the APC appears well-positioned, with the rally in Ikorodu Constituency I signaling a strong start in the quest to retain leadership at the grassroots level in Lagos State.
