The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the newly unveiled All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Secretariat in Abuja, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing visionary leadership that enables Nigerian youths to fully harness their creativity and resourcefulness.
Senator Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, toured the state-of-the-art youth facility, describing it as “nothing short of inspiring.”
The world-class centre boasts a game room and social area with table tennis, snooker and other games; three event spaces of varying sizes for youth trainings and town hall meetings; a lounge; a boardroom; and a multimedia suite/podcast studio.
“I am really impressed with what I saw here today. It gives me hope that we have a generation which fully understands how the current world is evolving. You have created an environment where youth creativity will blossom, and a place they will be eager to visit,” Abiru remarked.
The Senator praised the purposeful leadership of Dr. Dayo Israel, APC National Youth Leader, for spearheading the initiative and raising the bar for youth engagement within the ruling party.
He extended an invitation to the APC National Youth Wing leadership to visit his iconic SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu, Lagos State, pledging collaboration with the Secretariat to further strengthen youth-focused initiatives.
“Young Nigerians, driven by purpose and vision, are building ideas that can truly shape the future of our nation. It’s a powerful reminder that Renewed Hope isn’t just a slogan; it’s already taking root. You have really raised the bar by setting up a platform for our great party,” Abiru stressed during a panel session moderated by Dr. Israel.
Speaking on his passion for youth talent development, particularly in technology and digital innovation, Abiru disclosed that over 1,900 young people have been trained in Tech Talent Development, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence through the SAIL Innovation Lab.
In addition, more than 6,000 teachers have benefited from the SAIL Empowerment Foundation’s Teachers’ Fellowship programme in partnership with MTN Foundation.
In his response, Dr. Israel thanked Senator Abiru for the visit and reiterated the APC National Youth Wing’s commitment to deepening political participation among Nigerian youth, while harnessing the country’s demographic advantage for sustainable national development.
