Ikorodu, Lagos – August 2, 2025, As the people of Ikorodu Kingdom prepare to mark a decade of illustrious reign under their revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Dr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, GCIO, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has joined the growing list of dignitaries extolling the virtues of the Ayangburen.
Dr. Agbaje, in a heartfelt tribute, described the paramount ruler as “a blessing to the land and an irreplaceable pillar of peace, unity, and progress for Ikorodu and Lagos State at large.”
“Kabiyesi’s reign over the past decade has been marked by a rare combination of wisdom, humility, and purpose-driven leadership.”
“He has consistently worked for the good of his people, fostering peace and enabling development to thrive.”
“The growth and transformation of Ikorodu in these past ten years are, without doubt, tied to his foresight and tireless commitment,” Agbaje stated.
The Special Adviser noted that Oba Shotobi’s reign has seen a remarkable strengthening of the relationship between the traditional institution and government, enabling Ikorodu to benefit from strategic development initiatives.
He particularly commended the monarch’s role in promoting rural electrification, advocating for road rehabilitation, supporting educational growth, and protecting cultural heritage.
Dr. Agbaje highlighted the Ayangburen’s pivotal role in fostering security through community-driven initiatives such as the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL), which has been instrumental in addressing challenges relating to safety, healthcare, education, and environmental management across the division.

“His open-door policy and ability to engage meaningfully with both leaders and ordinary citizens have created an atmosphere of trust and inclusivity. This is why he enjoys deep respect, not only in Ikorodu but also across Lagos State and beyond,” Agbaje added.
He further noted that the Ayangburen has become a rallying point for unity in Ikorodu Division, drawing together diverse community leaders, political actors, and youth groups to work towards common goals.
As the celebrations for the monarch’s 10th Coronation Anniversary get underway from August 2nd to 10th, 2025, Dr. Agbaje prayed for the continued success of Oba Shotobi’s reign.
“I pray that Kabiyesi will continue to reign with divine wisdom, good health, and strength. May his reign bring even greater peace, prosperity, and recognition to Ikorodu,” he concluded.
