The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has extolled the virtues of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, as the revered monarch marks his birthday.
In a congratulatory message released on the 5th of February 2026, Dr. Agbaje described the Ayangburen as a foremost traditional ruler whose reign has been defined by wisdom, humility, and dedication to the progress of Ikorodu Kingdom and Lagos State at large.
According to the Special Adviser, Oba Shotobi has continued to play a stabilising role in fostering peace, unity, and cultural pride across Ikorodu Division, while also serving as a dependable partner to government in the implementation of development-driven policies and programmes.
Dr. Agbaje commended the monarch’s consistent support for initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, education, and community development, noting that such royal backing has significantly enhanced grassroots acceptance of government interventions in rural and semi-urban communities.
“His Royal Majesty is not only a custodian of our rich cultural heritage but also a progressive-minded monarch whose counsel and leadership have contributed immensely to the socio-economic growth of Ikorodu Kingdom,” Agbaje stated.
He further acknowledged the Ayangburen’s role in promoting harmony between traditional institutions and modern governance, describing him as a bridge-builder whose palace remains open to dialogue, peacebuilding, and collective problem-solving.
Dr. Agbaje prayed for continued good health, longevity, and divine wisdom for the royal father, expressing optimism that Oba Shotobi’s reign would witness even greater milestones in community development and traditional leadership.
