2027: IKORODU LEADERS, YOUTHS, TRADITIONAL RULERS UNITE TO BACK TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Political leaders, traditional rulers, youths, students, and community stakeholders from Ikorodu Division in Lagos State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, endorsing his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was formally declared at the Ikorodu Division Unites for 2027 Rally, held on Monday the 9th of February 2026 at the Ikorodu Town Hall, where stakeholders highlighted what they described as landmark achievements of the Tinubu administration, including economic reforms, infrastructure expansion, social intervention programmes, and renewed focus on national stability.

The rally drew participants from across the six local government and local council development areas of Ikorodu Division — Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, and Imota — underscoring what party leaders described as a united and formidable progressive front.
Beyond the rally, royal fathers across the division also publicly expressed support for the President’s re-election.

Speaking to journalists at the palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu and Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division, Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, traditional rulers affirmed their backing for President Tinubu, describing his leadership as critical to Nigeria’s stability and development.

The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who witnessed the rally, commended the people of Ikorodu Division for their unwavering loyalty to the party and their early mobilisation ahead of 2027.

Ojelabi praised the division for its political organisation and consistency, noting that Ikorodu has historically remained at the forefront of progressive politics in Lagos State and beyond.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Co-Chairman of the organising group, Col. Onafowokan Bolaji Titilola, PhD (Lt. Col. rtd), said the gathering was driven by conviction rather than mere party allegiance.

“Today, we gather not merely out of party loyalty, but out of conviction in a leader whose vision, courage, and capacity have been tested over decades and proven beyond doubt,” he said.

He described President Tinubu as a leader of uncommon resolve, a strategic thinker, and a statesman whose developmental footprints remain visible from Lagos to Abuja and whose influence continues to shape the future of Nigeria.

Also addressing participants, the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Adedayo Abayomi Abdul-Lateef Ladega, said the Tinubu administration has revitalised local governance across the country.

He noted that within a short period in office, the federal government’s policies have begun to yield visible results at the grassroots level, urging residents to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, acknowledged that President Tinubu assumed office during one of the most challenging periods in Nigeria’s history.

While noting that reforms often come with short-term difficulties, he stressed that economic indicators, including foreign exchange stability and fiscal adjustments, suggest that the country is gradually moving towards recovery.

He added that the administration is addressing security challenges with renewed resolve.

Similarly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), representing Ikorodu Constituency II, said the division was united in purpose and determined to play its role in securing victory for the APC in 2027.

He stated that Ikorodu has a responsibility not only to return President Tinubu to office but also to ensure sustained prosperity and development across the division and the nation at large.

Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, highlighted the administration’s emphasis on infrastructure development, economic restructuring, and inclusive governance.

She noted that President Tinubu has demonstrated gender sensitivity in appointments and policy direction, adding that economic indicators, including projected GDP growth by 2026, reflect steady progress under his leadership.

The member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, introduced what he described as President Tinubu’s “mental magnitude,” explaining it as the ability to take bold, forward-looking decisions that shape long-term national growth.

Drawing parallels with the free education policy of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Benson cited the student loan scheme (NELFUND), the creation of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, and the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project as examples of visionary leadership driven by foresight rather than political convenience.

He detailed that the establishment of LCDAs has strengthened grassroots governance, enhanced security, created employment opportunities, and accelerated development, contributing significantly to Lagos State’s stability.

On his part, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, reaffirmed Ikorodu Division’s collective support for President Tinubu, describing the rally as a clear statement of unity and readiness.

Abiru noted that since the creation of Lagos State, Ikorodu has consistently aligned with progressive politics and has remained a dependable political base for the ruling bloc.

He added that continued collaboration between the federal government and the National Assembly is essential for sustaining reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy.

Members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) from Ikorodu Division, alongside APC leaders under the leadership of Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, reiterated the division’s long-standing political loyalty to progressive governance since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.

They stressed that Ikorodu’s political engagement goes beyond voting patterns, encompassing grassroots mobilisation, policy advocacy, and community development initiatives aligned with government programmes.

Other dignitaries at the rally included the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje; the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Abisola Olusanya; council chairmen; members of the Lagos State House of Assembly; members of the Lagos State Executive Council from the division; as well as community, youth, and religious leaders.

Prominent traditional and political figures such as Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Aarebirin Hon. Dr. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, and other traditional leaders from across Ikorodu Division were also in attendance, lending further weight to the endorsement.
