The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, and other dignitaries, on Sunday attended the 19th edition of the Ramadan Tafseer held in honour of the late Alhaji Kha. Shuaib Ogungbo and Alhaja Kha. Basirat Ogungbo.
The annual Islamic lecture, which took place on March 8, 2026, attracted religious leaders, government officials, community stakeholders, and hundreds of Muslim faithful who gathered to reflect on the spiritual significance of the holy month of Ramadan.

The event, themed “Divine Justice: Repentance, Restitution, and Re-Alignment,” emphasized moral responsibility, the need for sincere repentance, and the importance of aligning personal and societal conduct with the principles of justice and righteousness.
Speaking at the gathering, the host, Abdul-Kabir Opeyemi Ogungbo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue, expressed appreciation to guests and participants for honouring the memory of his late parents through prayers and acts of charity.
A major highlight of the programme was the distribution of 2,000 food palliatives to residents and vulnerable members of the community.

The initiative, according to the organisers, was designed to support households during the fasting period and to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The palliative distribution formed part of the event’s humanitarian component, reflecting the Islamic values of compassion, charity, and community support, especially during the sacred period of Ramadan.

The 19th Ramadan Tafseer also featured prayers for the peace and progress of Nigeria, spiritual admonitions from Islamic scholars, and tributes celebrating the legacy and community contributions of the late Alhaji Shuaib Ogungbo and Alhaja Basirat Ogungbo.
