OLATOUN OLABINJO WOMEN, GIRL-CHILD EMPOWERMENT TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT IWD CELEBRATION IN IGBOGBO/BAIYEKU LCDA ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Olatoun Olabinjo Women and young girls empowerment in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) were celebrated and suppprted on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as the Olatoun Olabinjo Women and Girl Child Initiative, in collaboration with the AOSTEM Centre, Igbogbo Platinum Leo Club, and J&K Support Initiative, marked the 2026 International Women’s Day with an inspiring gathering.

The event, held at the AOSTEM Centre in Apalura, Igbogbo, attracted notable dignitaries, community leaders, and stakeholders committed to advancing the cause of women and girl-child development.

The programme was organised under the theme “Give To Gain,” focusing on leadership, empowerment, and community support for women and girls.

Among the prominent personalities present were Hon. Saidat Adeoba Odeyemi, Chief Whip and Councillor representing Ward C3 in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, who attended on behalf of the wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Silifat Aroyewun.

Also, in attendance were Hon. Basirat Banjoko, Council Leader and Councillor representing Ward C2; Mrs. Adenike Dawodu, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA); Mrs. Yetunde Badejo; the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kudus Oduntan; and Hon. Ogunlaja Olayinka, among other distinguished guests.

The programme featured engaging discussions on the challenges confronting women in society and practical approaches to enhancing their socio-economic empowerment.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Barr. Comfort Ajibola emphasized the importance of skill acquisition for women, noting that practical skills remain valuable regardless of academic attainment.

She encouraged participants to embrace the theme of the event by developing vocational abilities that can support financial independence and personal growth.

In her welcome address, the Convener, Barr. Olatoun Olabinjo, expressed appreciation to dignitaries, partners, and participants for their presence and support.

She urged women and young girls to remain determined in their pursuit of growth, leadership, and empowerment, stressing that collective support is vital for building a stronger and more inclusive society.

Adding a personal perspective to the discussion, Miss Adebunmi Adekoya, a Master’s degree holder from the University of Lagos turned entrepreneur, shared her journey into fashion design.

She highlighted how she successfully blended academic knowledge with vocational skills to build a thriving entrepreneurial path.

Other notable attendees included Comrade Abdulsalam Adebayo Tijani, Special Adviser on Student Affairs in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA; Mr. and Mrs. Olaiye Yakub; Leo Lion Edwin Cole Victor; Leo Lawal Keji; Dr. Stella; and several community stakeholders.

The International Women’s Day celebration served as a platform for dialogue, inspiration, and collaboration, reinforcing the importance of empowering women and supporting the development of the girl child within the community.

Barr. Olabinjo expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, particularly the Executive Chairman, Hon. Hammed Aroyewun, and his wife, Mrs. Silifat Aroyewun, as well as the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kudus Oduntan, for their support and presence at the event.

She also acknowledged the immense support of Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe (GAC Member) for giving us the platform to thrive, as well as other councillor, noting that their support made the programme a success and strengthened the vision of empowering women and girls across the LCDA.

The event concluded with renewed commitments from participants and stakeholders to continue fostering initiatives that promote women’s empowerment, leadership development, and opportunities for the girl child in Igbogbo/Baiyeku and beyond.
