The Convener of the CityBoy Movement in Ikorodu, Prince Kazeem Adeniyi Owoyele, has emphasized grassroots political engagement and leadership collaboration as central to the movement’s agenda, during a familiarization meeting held on Wednesday, April 29, 2027.
Addressing a gathering of party loyalists and youths at the APC party Secretariat of Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje in Aga, Owoyele stated that the essence of the meeting was to build strong alliances with political leaders while encouraging grassroots participation in governance and electoral processes.
According to him, the movement’s visit to Ikorodu marked a significant step, as it received a “soft landing” and strategic backing from Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development.
He noted that Dr. Agbaje’s support would play a crucial role in advancing the movement’s objectives within the division.
The meeting also attracted prominent political figures, including Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Ogunleye reaffirmed his support for the CityBoy Movement, noting that its goals align with the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s broader vision for the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Dr. Agbaje expressed strong endorsement of the movement, highlighting its commitment to ensuring the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, as well as supporting the gubernatorial ambition of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
He further reiterated support for all APC candidates across Ikorodu Division, citing their performance in office as justification for their return.
Key candidates mentioned include Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East Senatorial District), Hon. Babajimi Adejoke Benson (Ikorodu Federal Constituency), Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye (Ikorodu Constituency I), and Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (Ikorodu Constituency II).
Prince Owoyele further disclosed that the CityBoy Movement would continue its familiarization tour across Ikorodu Division, engaging political leaders and stakeholders to consolidate its base and strengthen support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting also featured an enlightenment session on voter registration and active political participation.
Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions, particularly new members seeking guidance on how to contribute meaningfully to the movement.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Habeeb Olusuga expressed optimism about the initiative, stating that the CityBoy Movement would enhance Ikorodu’s representation at local, state, and federal levels.
He commended Dr. Agbaje for his pivotal role in facilitating the movement’s entry into the division.
Similarly, Mr. Segun Olowu, an executive member of the movement, projected that the CityBoy Movement would grow into one of the most influential political platforms in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
He noted that the endorsement by key stakeholders signals strong acceptance within Ikorodu and would help galvanize grassroots support in favour of the APC.
The well-attended meeting drew a large number of youths from Ikorodu Central, underscoring growing political awareness and engagement among young people in the division.
