
The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has called for greater unity and unwavering commitment among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing the need for party cohesion as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
Senator Abiru made the appeal on Sunday while hosting APC leaders, elected officials, and key stakeholders from across Lagos East Senatorial District to an Eid-el-Kabir celebration held at his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The event attracted prominent figures within the ruling party, including the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi; serving council chairmen; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); lawmakers; party executives; and other influential stakeholders from the district.
Among notable attendees were Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, Alhaji Shakiru Akanni Seriki (Bamu), Alhaji Mutiu Aare, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and Alhaji Bode Oyedele.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Abiru urged party faithful, particularly aspirants who did not emerge victorious during the APC primary elections, to remain steadfast and continue supporting the party and its candidates.
According to him, the APC’s ability to maintain internal harmony, loyalty, and collective responsibility remains essential to sustaining its electoral success and delivering effective governance.
He further called on members to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as well as the leadership of the party at all levels, emphasizing that a united front would strengthen the APC’s capacity to achieve its developmental objectives.
Reflecting on his tenure in the Senate, Abiru highlighted various constituency interventions and developmental initiatives executed across Lagos East. He cited achievements in education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic growth, and human capital development as part of his efforts to improve the quality of life of constituents.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to providing purposeful representation and facilitating programmes that would foster sustainable growth and development throughout the senatorial district.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, alongside other GAC leaders, commended Senator Abiru for what they described as exemplary leadership and impactful representation.
The party leaders noted that the senator’s performance had enhanced the image of the APC and earned the admiration of constituents across Lagos East. They pointed to his numerous developmental projects and people-focused initiatives as evidence of effective leadership and urged other public office holders to emulate his approach to governance.
Earlier in his remarks, Senator Abiru’s Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, praised the senator’s dedication to public service, describing him as a responsive and compassionate leader whose commitment to the welfare of the people remains evident through his actions and programmes.
In her closing remarks, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola expressed appreciation to residents and party supporters across Lagos East for their continued support of Senator Abiru. She described the senator as a dependable representative whose contributions have continued to positively impact communities throughout the district.
