The Factor Relaxation Centre Olubi was the destination for friends, well wishers, stakeholders and media Practitioners alike for A Night Of Honour to Celebrate The Life and Times Of Retired Veteran Radio Lagos Broadcaster Pa Olatunji Owolabi, And it was observed in both an emotional and inspirational atmosphere.
The Tribute program which was organised by the Ikorodu Community Media Practitioners (IKOCOMP) hosted both the family of Late Pa Olutunji Owolabi and friends in order to acknowledge the legacy Pa Olatunji as a successful media personality and also recognising his selfless efforts in the development of the media industry specifically in Ikorodu.
A special tribute was read by Master Sunday Owolabi to his father expressing love and Joy for the positive mark made by his father on earth.
Prince Ganny Awobajo The publisher of Ikorodu NewsPaper paid an emotional tribute to Pa Owolabi stating their lengthy relationship over the years as an intellectual upgrade for him, “He looked so younger than his age, and the last time we met was at the opening ceremony of the Oriwu Central Mosque, I never knew that would be the last, but he was indeed a great man” said Prince Ganny.
The Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA Hon. Adeola Adebanjo thanked everyone for the support giving to the family of the late broadcaster stating that he would try to see that the family has all the support they need in this time of grief.
The Olori of Ebute, Wife of Mr. Abiola the Alashe of Ebute spoke about her relationship with the late broadcaster and how she learnt so much from his expertise, “I wished we would have been able to host him while he was alive and make him share with us his wealth of experiences of the old fashion radio station and the current style of radio presentation today, that would have been a lovely experience for someone who was at the then phase of the media till it evolved today”, Said Olori.
Mr Fakolade Oluwaseun the chairman of Ikorodu Union Of Teachers stated that legends like Pa Olatunji Owolabi must be immortalized for their extensive effort in the media sector, “Let people see that they did not made impact in vain” Said Fakolade.
The secretary of the Ikorodu media community practisoners Mr. Kunle Adelabu briefly informed the guest about the organisers of the program (IKOCOMP) and crave their indulgence on letting the media Practitioners have more leverage on the growth process of the community.
The organising committee of the IKOCOMP promised the family to allocate every form of support towards the burial of Pa Olatunji Owolabi as every donations from the program would be adequately passed across to them.
