YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, A PANACEA FOR POVERTY IN THE NATION By LEKAN BILLIAMIN SULAIMON-OBA
Youth Empowerment is not same with Youth development. The word Empowerment has being abused over the years and it calls for all and sundrys attention.
For me, you should empower young citizens in terms of education and not the concept we experience today.
When you let young people access quality education, you are close to setting them free and you can be rest assured they are liberated.
Information is life itself.
I don’t believe poverty is our issue as young Citizens rather our inability to channel our mindset towards the things that will add value to us as young people.
When you talk about Empowerment, what comes to mind today is Marwa and Okada donation.
What happens to adult education. What happens to education to young people living in the creeks. For me, the only legacy you can give a child is education.
Access good education is Youth development while the Keke Marwa is a good example of Youth Empowerment, Choose wisely.
I am sorry to say this, an educated mind shouldn’t be poor in the first place.
Education alone is an asset.
Education alone is your weapon needed for freedom.
Education will liberate your mind,
Education will tell you to do things done differently.
If you are educated and poor, it shows something is not right somewhere.
Education will help you through self Discovery.
This is why the National Youth Council of Nigeria Lagos State Chapter is doing all that is within us to make sure we do all that is within us to push education as our top priority.
I will also encourage we take our Entrepreneurship class serious. No job out there.
Create something. The moment you realise a problem, proffer Solutions. That solution is your Money making machine, go for it!
Another thing that scares young people is failure. Don’t be afraid of it.
You just may be close to winning, go for it.
In conclusion, be positive in all you do. Pray to God and hope for greatness.
