LAMATA: BUS FARES IN LAGOS STATE RETURNS TO 100% ON APRIL 1ST ®™√ INN Nigeria © storage emulated 0 pictures comica cartoon16800705640744147684483959975454 The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has issued a message notifying residents of Lagos that with effect from Saturday, 1st April, bus fares on all regulated buses BRT, Standard and FLM- shall revert to a 100 per cent rate. The notice which was published on social media indicated that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Lagos Wednesday, 8th February 2023 approved a 50% slash in bus fares following the cash crunch brought about by the recent currency swap. It continued, "Following the Supreme Court and Federal Government's pronouncements on the use of old notes alongside the new notes and the return of stability to the system, the 50% rebate is hereby discontinued". "Consequently, bus fares return to a pre-50% slash rate effective Saturday, 1st April 2023" the statement ends.

SANWO-OLU INTERCEDES, AGREES TO PAY ₦5M COMPENSATION TO UBER DRIVER ASSAULTED DURING #ENDSARS ANNIVERSARY ®™√ INN Nigeria © sanwo olu driver 547159360393872535 Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said he’ll be paying the sum of ₦5million awarded by the court as compensation to an Uber driver, Adedotun Clement, who was assaulted during the first anniversary of the EndSARS protest. The Governor who spoke through his Social Media handles said he was going to honour the March 14 judgment of the Lagos division of the high court ordering the state government to pay ₦ 5 million as compensation to Clement. The Governor wrote, “Good evening Lagos, as Governor, I'm committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens' rights with empathy and authority. "I recently became aware of the case involving Mr Clement Adedotun and the judgement by the Federal High Court, and I understand the impact this legal battle has had on him." "After reviewing Mr Clement's case, I've directed the Honorable Attorney General to set up a meeting and pay him the compensation awarded by the Court." “Although the State Government has appealed the ruling, I’ve interceded in this instance in the interest of the public good, and requested that the State’s Attorney General comply with the court’s ruling." “As a strong advocate for the rule of law, I commend all parties for seeking justice through the appropriate channels, and I remain committed to upholding the rights of all Lagosians".

LASG VOWS TO CONTINUE CLAMP DOWN ON MISCREANTS HARASSING MOTORISTS WITHIN THE STATE ®™√ INN Nigeria © fb img 16798554005228159388057465428565 The Lagos State Government has vowed to continue clamp down on miscreants who harass Motorists and truck drivers going about their lawful businesses, through continuous sting operations across the State. The Ministry of Transportation made this known at weekend while parading four suspected hoodlums by the name; Tunji Oyedeji, Allison Ozin, Taiwo Olubodun and Awotunde Ahmed, while carrying out their illegal activities in Amuwo-Odofin area of the State. Recall that the Transport Operations and Compliance Unit of the Ministry in February apprehended a group of miscreants in Igando axis, while extorting a tipper driver on his way to offload sand. Condemning their actions, the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde stated that the continuous arrest of these miscreants demonstrates the State Government’s resolve to ensure an enabling environment devoid of miscreants’ activities, saying, the Ministry will intensify its sting operations across the State to tame these urchins whose actions hinder economic development. The Transport Commissioner noted that the suspects arrested have been handed over to the Lagos State TASKFORCE for investigation and prosecution, warning others to desist from these illegal activities or be made to face the full wrath of the law in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
