When you get injured in the healing process your body might form scars to heal the wound, certain times there is accumulation of excessive amount of collagen resulting in a raised scar which do not regress. This is known as a “raised scar” or KELOID.
Collagen is the main structural protein in mammals.
Some treatments exist for this though certain keloids return after that.
Treatment for keloids include :
•surgical removal
•Freezing the scar
•corticosteroid shots
Keloid is most common amongst African-Americans. It is advised that if your skin forms keloids in the healing process, you should stay away from body piercing, tattooing and anything that would puncture or injure you.
Some people form even more chronic and larger keloids than others. Like, even more larger ones exist.
