At a Policy Roundtable Dialogue on International Best Practices on Real Estate Regulations today, I addressed industry practitioners on the significance of the sector to economic and social development.
Shelter is one of the three most important needs of humans. I stressed the need for real estate developers to make housing easier and more accessible by building the kind of houses that targets the different socio-economic classes.
Critical to developing the sector and increasing the stock of houses available are financial institutions who should create new financing models and a longer tenure mortgage system that gives headroom to subscribers to be able to meet other needs.
