As the year 2020 comes to an end with alot of recorded casualties and shortcomings, Members of the Tortuga Frigate Ikorodu converged in appreciation mode for a get together Thanksgiving/Prayer and visitation to support the less privileged in the community.
Tortuga Frigate is a Non Government Organisation which is Youth orientated with a clear agenda to promote peace, productivity and generosity over chaos, Thuggery and indiscipline in the society.
The Association who’s aim and objective is to put smiles on the faces of the needy made their mark on the 7th of November by providing food and provision items in it’s mass to support the Child Life-Line Orphanage Home in Owode-Ibeshe Community of Ikorodu.
At the Treasurer Lounge where the program kicked off, Prophet Kayode Osikomaya Admonished members of the Association to continue to promote peace, support each other and abstain from every form of social vices which has brought restlessness to the communities in this present time.
Alpha Amokomowo followed up with more cautionary advice and issued a prayer Session to lift up the spirit of every member of the Association.
It should also be noted that the program ran simultaneously with a free medical check up for members at a corner section of the venue.
“This program has been put together to Specially reach out to the needy in our society. Looking at what we have been through this year, it is only proper we appreciate God for the preservation of life, thank him for provision and in turn extend our heartfelt gratitude to the less privileged around us” Mr Akeredolu Oluwaseun (Governor, Tortuga Frigate Lagos)
The entire Association members proceeded from the Thanksgiving venue to the Child Life-Line Orphanage Home at Owode-Ibeshe road in Ikorodu where food items like Indomie noodles, Cheese balls, Chickens, Grass Cutting Machine, Sanitation Items, Tin tomatoes, Provision Items etc where presented to the Housemaster in-charge of the Orphanage Home.
“The reason why our support this year is magnanimous is because of the situation of things in the country today.
Our aims and objectives is to give to the Needy and put smiles on their faces.
We supported the Sabo International market with sanitation equipment last month which we felt is our responsibility. due to the busy nature of the market on a weekly basis.
We are doing this to pass a message to the youths in Ikorodu, They must understand that we can be better than what people think of us. We are not cultist, we are not thugs and we’re not causing miscreants in our communities, instead we’re adding values to the progress we see coming up from within.
We can do better than fighting and causing havoc, The youths should see what we’re doing today as a way of rewriting the narrative that youths has Notting to offer their communities, That is not true as you can see what we’re doing now to help the needy in Ikorodu.” Mr Pelumi Olalekan (Chairman Tortuga Frigate Ikorodu)
“We receive donations from all Organisation. But What Tortuga Frigate has given to us today is far beyond our expectations. This will go a long way to put smiles on the faces of our children.
Our message is that for individuals that have and can support should do so because most of our children have no where to turn to, but with this support from Tortuga frigate, We Can say that being grateful is the key word to use.
The children were preparing to play football with members of the Tortuga Frigate team but due to the change in Weather we had to pause it, But in all is to show our level of excitement and enthusiasm as a result of our appreciation.” Mr Dotun Adesanya (Housemaster, Child Life-Line Orphanage Home, Owode-Ibeshe Ikorodu)
