Adeoye Afeez Abiodun is a passionate football enthusiast with over 24yrs of experience in the soccer sector of West Africa. With educational background cut across the Northern, Eastern and South Western part of Nigeria, Adeoye Abiodun, from Ikorodu, is a member of the Lagos Country Club. In Nigeria alone, he has attended and watched matches at Kano, Enugu, Aba, Akure and Abeokuta stadiums, and he was opportuned to attend the Olympics games in 2012. Recently speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Adeoye disclosed that he attended 2010, 2014, and 2018 world Cup. He was also in Qatar for the 2022 world Cup. "Am a passionate football lover, an Arsenal football fan, who's also lucky to have travelled to London to watch their games". Changing positions to his administrative strength, Adeoye said, "As the game ambassador, I helped promoted the departmental football competition for bankers in Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) for 2yrs which later became the Orange league". According to Adeoye, he was part of an outsourced agency to voluntarily organise the annual Lagos City Marathon. "The departmental games expanded to bridging other branches". "In my leisure time, I and my colleagues play football on weekends at the Nitel football pitch in Oshodi" Adeoye added. Coming back to Ikorodu, Adeoye Abiodun explained that for over 4yrs now, his been elected as the vice-chairman of Ikorodu divisional football association, which is focused on grassroots football and talent discovery. Known to procure the Nigerian Supporters club as an attraction to local soccer competitions he promotes, Adeoye has also been identified with infusing cheerleading girls in his half-time coordinated games. He continued, "It has been observed that local footballers do not have ID's or proper means of Identification. So one of the key things I did coming into the sector, was to affiliate with a tech company to produce proper ID cards for them free of charge". "If not all the clubs, a lot of clubs in Ikorodu division have registered their players to this identification scheme, which has made it easy for officials to identify them during games". "In a nutshell, my vision is to give the youths a proper career platform to showcase their talents throw the football, which will in turn create a better society for all" Adeoye explained. Adeoye Abiodun's family promoted the Late Afusat Olabimpe Abiodun Female Gold Cup competition, which is instrumental in supporting grassroots female footballers in Nigeria. Two players from the competition's maiden edition in 2022 were enlisted to join Nigeria Under 17 female world cup 2022 in India.

The “Meet the Mentor” event organised by the office of the Speaker House of Representatives supported by Progressive sisters Network PSN, brought together great men and women who Asiwaju has mentored. The Night saw speaker Femi Gbajabiamila tell his story of how he has evolved into the number 4th man in the country just by following the guardians of Asiwaju Tinubu. Several other mentees in the room spoke, appreciating the capital investment of Asiwaju and calling on Nigerians vote for a man who has not only contributed to Nation building Democracy but has raised great men and women in all sectors of the country. High points of the event were the Launch of the Door-to-Door Tinubu/shettima Package which is targeted at reducing the pressure and pain resulting from the poorly planned Naira swap policy, which has made it difficult for many Nigerians to buy food items as they don’t have the cash to transact. The items are in the hundreds of thousands in food stacks to be delivered to the doorsteps of Nigerians as a relief package for this critical period. This Idea and project were birthed by Dr Betta Edu, APC NWL and supported by Asiwaju’s follower speaker Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon Imaan Suleiman and other protege through the office of the National Women Leader of APC, Dr Betta Edu. Speaking at the Event, Dr Betta Edu said all she saw in the room is a great incoming President with an unbeatable human capital development plan for Nigeria. She said the food packs, which will be going to the doorsteps of families, will help households during these difficult times, which will soon be over. She pleaded with Nigerians to give Tinubu a chance because he has a heart for the people, and he truly cares about our nation and its development meant. Also speaking was Rinsola Abiola, the National Coordinator of PSN, who spoke of Asiwaju’s legacy of making great women in the Nation. "Tinubu started his process of running with a female Deputy in 1999, appointed the first female Chief Judge of Lagos". "He also brought in the first female Head of Service in Lagos. The Chief Executive Officer Ikeja Electric, Folake Soetan said the company is passionate and deliberate about impacting the environment where she operates through various interventions under the company’s Corporate Social responsibility (P-CSR) initiatives. According to her, beyond the symbolic February 14th Valentine’s Day, we have to be deliberate and genuinely show love, and care and most importantly make the people around us happy. One of the best ways to show love is to visit such placards and put smiles on the faces of these children and this, in turn, turns out to bring joy and healing. “At Ikeja Electric, the operational vehicle for our P-CSR initiatives is the Employee Volunteer Scheme which encourages our employees to partner with the company in making a considerable impact through charitable activities and voluntary contribution of their time and resources towards the progress of communities in which we operate. These humane and charitable acts reinforce our avowed commitment to “Giving Back Always” to society at all levels,” She added. Soetan expressed her appreciation to the management of the foundation for allowing herself and the E team present during the visit to be part of a selfless service to humanity while presenting gift items, toiletries, foodstuffs and other consumables to the foundation. In her remarks, the founder of Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria, Mrs Rose Mordi, commended IE for expressing love, care and empathy towards those in need. She said her feelings were that most organisations do not think about the less privileged people and that she was surprised when she heard that Ikeja Electric is paying a visit to the foundation. She encouraged others to emulate IE and she also promised to continue to be an ambassador of Ikeja Electric. She exhibited some of the handmade crafts by the students as part of the Foundation’s entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and empowerment impacts to the visiting IE team and thanked the company for the visit while urging the management not to relent on the commitment to continuously show love to young and adult with down syndrome through her various CSR activities.

‘IT’S MY RE-ELECTION GIFT’, SANWO-OLU SAYS AS HE INAUGURATES NEWLY-UPGRADED OBA SEKUMADE ROAD IN IKORODU ®™√ INN Nigeria © 3939k3k3knem8294525662510498491 Inauguration of the newly-upgraded Oba Sekumade Road in Ipakodo, Ikorodu Division, on Friday, moved the residents into spontaneous jubilation in a show of appreciation to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for fulfilling his pledge. Sanwo-Olu commissioned the infrastructure, which now provides easy access to residential and industrial areas in Ibeshe, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ebute Ipakodo, Ikorodu town and Ipakodo Mega Jetty Terminal. The Governor also rehabilitated the failed sections of T.O.S Benson Road, covering a stretch of 500 metres. To ease vehicular congestion on the T.O.S Benson Road, a comprehensive junction improvement project was carried out by the State Government to diffuse traffic towards Ikorodu Roundabout. Commuters’ experience on Oba Sekumade Road was harrowing, given its deplorable conditions. This prompted the Government to list the 2.5-kilometre single-lane roadway in the State’s strategic emergency road rehabilitation programme and was awarded for comprehensive upgrading and expansion, using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP). The intervention saw the busy road upgraded from a single-lane to rigid concrete dual carriageway, thereby improving connectivity and bringing relief to commuting public plying the route. The road was the first major infrastructure project to be inaugurated by the Governor after he won his re-election two weeks ago. Sanwo-Olu described the commissioning as a “thank you” gift for the electorate in Ikorodu Division for turning out the second largest vote number that made his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), to win the last gubernatorial election. He said: “Today, we have come back to Ikorodu Division to show our appreciation and say big ‘Thank You’ to Ikorodu residents for keeping faith with our Government. This town has been good to our party with its outstanding voters’ support during elections. What else can we do to demonstrate our appreciation other than to come to this important base of Lagos heritage and hand over a gift of infrastructure that will bring huge benefits to the people. “The commissioning of Oba Sekumade Road and the rehabilitation of T.O.S Benson Road point to another demonstration of what purposeful governance is all about. These projects reflect our commitment to delivering dividends of democracy and ensuring that development touches every nook and cranny of Lagos. These projects are strategic to strengthen various interventions initiated to improve traffic management on this axis. The hardship being experienced by drivers has been resolved, as we have enhanced connectivity and reduced journey time.” Sanwo-Olu said the Ikorodu Division would further reap more infrastructure benefits during his second term, stressing that the State Government had gotten the assurance of contractors to accelerate construction work on other infrastructure projects being constructed in the area. The Governor particularly mentioned the ongoing construction of Agric-Isawo Road, which the contractor had pushed to 60 per cent completion. He pledged there would be an improvement in the pace of work on the Ewu Elepe-Gberigbe Road, Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road and Adamo-Agunfoye Road construction. He also charged Lagos State Public Works Corporation to race up the work on Igbogbo-Baiyeku Road to improve connectivity within the axis. Sanwo-Olu said the traffic interchange being developed at Ita Elewa Roundabout will change the transportation landscape of Ikorodu when completed. The project, currently at 55 per cent completion, will open a new BRT corridor within Ikorodu. He said: “What we are about is ensuring that the next four years come with bigger dividends delivered faster than we have done in our first tenure. There will be accelerated development across the city in the next dispensation. Ikorodu is part of the Greater Lagos that is rising. “In the next couple of months, we will be doing groundbreaking for the Fourth Mainland Bridge, which will cut across major sections on Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway before finally opening to Lagos Ibadan Expressway. We are committed to delivering this project in our second term to completely open Ikorodu to the world.” Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye said the upgrade of Oba Sekumade Road to a rigid pavement dual carriageway did not only solve traffic problems experienced on the highway but also solved flooding issues threatening adjoining residential communities. She said the State Government’s insistence on sustainable infrastructure, adequate drainage channels, and quality lighting facilities on the road underscored the Sanwo-Olu administration's commitment to high standards. “I believe that with the rehabilitation and upgrade of this road, the challenge of flooding and inadequate capacity will now become a thing of the past. This in turn will also translate into the improved free flow of traffic and a much-needed reduction in travel time for the business owners in the area and the motoring public at large,” she said. The Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Bashiru Shotonwa, described the development as ”historic”, noting that the road remained significant for the socio-economic development of Ikorodu. The traditional ruler said the road condition worsened due to the influx of manufacturing companies and residential development, which mounted pressure on its usage. “Mr Governor, by fulfilling your promise to us today, you have written your name in gold in the history of Ipakodo. We will continue to remember your name for good,” Oba Shotonwa said. The member representing Ikorodu II in the House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, said the huge votes turned out from Ikorodu were to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture towards renewing infrastructure in the town. The lawmaker said the rehabilitation of TOS Benson Road was the icing on the cake, as it was not part of the original project. “These roads have brought huge relief to commuters on this axis and we can now say goodbye to flooding of our streets,” Agunbiade said.

Mudashiru Obasa and other lawmakers-elect received their Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday promising to ensure a greater Lagos at the 10th Assembly. "On behalf of my colleagues, we will continue to build on the success of the current Assembly when we resume for the 10th Assembly. We want to assure Lagosians that we will continue to make laws and pass motions and resolutions that will bring progress to Lagos and protect the interests of residents. "That's the assurance that I have from the 39 other members-elect," Dr Obasa told journalists at the event which had Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in attendance. A total of 38 lawmakers-elect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two from the opposition received their Certificate of Return. The Speaker thanked his constituents in Agege and Lagosians for their support for the APC. "I thank my people in Agege for their consistency, loyalty and support at all times. And to Lagosians, we say thank you. At least APC has 38 lawmakers-elect out of the 40 for the House of Assembly. We have three senatorial seats and a whole lot in the House of Representatives. We are very happy about this and have reasons to thank Lagosians. "We are going to support the Governor in his assignments to bring growth and progress to Lagos State as well as protect the lives and property of our people. However, supporting the executive arm does not mean we are going to compromise or abandon our constitutionally guaranteed responsibilities," Obasa said. He expressed optimism that Lagos will benefit from the centre in the next administration because "we have a President-elect that we all have absolute confidence in and who had done very well in Lagos State with a good track record. "We are sure that with him, many of our national challenges would be resolved because he has the capacity and knowledge to deliver. I do not doubt in my mind about it."
