
Lions Club International Hosted Children From West Hall College Ikorodu, Vetland Primary School Okooba, Jibowu Junior High School, Aladura Comprehensive School Anthony, United Junior High School Ikorodu, Ebenezer Comprehensive School Ijaiye, Escravos School, Boys Junior Academy Lagos Island, M&M Private School Iseri & Sanctum Start Up College Opic Estate in Lagos State As it Organised The Year 2020-2021 Peace Poster Contest At Eko FM, In Ikeja Lagos.
The event which is the district final was Themed ‘Peace Through Service’ to exhibit varieties of Peace Posters Created By Academic Masterminds with focus on art and style.
Lion Ahmed Ajayi NLCF (Master of the ceremony) elucidated… “To select a student who will represent Nigeria Internationally in the Peace poster displays, Series of Peace Posters has been presented at the back section of the hall for sights seeing by audience to be screened Subsequently & afterwards it will be left to our expert judges to determine the eventual winner“.
According to the chief judge of the program Mr. Olojo kosoko, He described the displayed art works as masterpieces and creative items coming from several Institutions in Lagos state.
Some works however, were dropped due to either faults in the elements of Arts i.e lines, shapes, textures or The principles of Art i.e Emphasis in the sketch, balance of colour, use of space and the proportion alignment.
We also look at rules like contestants should not write their names on the front of a design which has automatically disqualified 2 contestants.
The Judges are from the department of Art and Industrial Designs Lagos State Polytechnic LASPOTECH Ikorodu, They’re Mr Jeje Omotunde Matthew & Mr Olojo kosoko.
Lion Adeola Rotinwa PMJF NLCF (District Chairperson) Peace Poster Contest 2020-2021 at the high point of the program addressed the goals and objectives of the contest.
“For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups.
Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.
Lions have provided an important reminder to the world that, through service, we can give and receive so much joy, kindness, hope and PEACE. This year, young people have the opportunity to express their visions of peace through the lens of service.
This Contest will select a winner that will represent District 404A1 at the Multiple District (MD404) where a winner will also emerge among the Four (4) Districts” Lion Adeola Rotinwa Added
Speaking in the capacity of the District Governor (Lion Tokunbo Aromolaran PMJF, NLCF) in absential, The district carbinet secretary Lion Mrs Joyce Akpata Pmjf NLCF added her leverage to the program by highlighting the essence of the program.
“When there is no peace in our society our children are the ones that suffers the most, some lost their parents and guardians due to the unrest in our communities.
That is why programs like this is put together to enhance their Creative Capacity by projecting peace.
We appreciate clubs that sponsored their schools to this program. We also appreciate Lion Adeola Rotinwa for her fervent service to humanity in making the contest a successful one” Lion Mrs Joyce Akpata Added
Enoch Olawuyi From Ebenezer Comprehensive School Anthony (Sponsored by Anthony Emerald) Took the First position
Master John Ubong From Westhall Comprehensive School Ikorodu (Sponsored by Ikorodu Diamond) Took 2nd Position
While Olwatofunmi Moses Adeneka from Aladura Comprehensive School Anthony.
It should be noted that each school’s were sponsored by the Lions club at their respective regional level
The boys junior academy from Lagos island came late to the contest and was disqualified automatically.
In her closing remarks after the presentation of cash gifts to the winners, Lion Adeola Rotinwa PMJF NLCF stated that program of this kind is essential to orientate the young minds on the need to promote peace in every endeavours.
“In The Course of this year we have seen alot, starting with the CoVid-19 Pandemic and the ENDSARS Protests which resulted in a turmoil.
Our children must begin to see that the only way forward is peace, This is why Lions Club has inculcated this contest to project ‘Peace Through Service'” Lion Adeola Rotinwa
“That only One winner will be Choosen doesn’t mean everyone child here today that has presented one masterpiece or the other is not a winner. They’ll did marvelously well and should continue in this line of creativity Because the sky is the beginning” Lion Adeola Rotinwa Added
