
In her remarks, the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, said that the Lagos State Coconut Development Authority has just Supplied a consignment of 5,000 Dwarf Coconut Seedling from Service Center,Oko-Oba, Agege to Coconut Growers in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
She retraited that Lagos State, being the hub of Coconut Industry in Nigeria has the potential of supplying thousands of improved and certified Coconut seedlings to Coconut Growers across 26 Coconut producing States in Nigeria and that this is in line with the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of improving and expanding the economy of the State through the value chains which the State has comparative advantage as embedded in one of the pillars of THEMES Agenda, that’s ‘Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy’.
She noted that in the nearest future as a result of increasing public and private investment in Coconut processing, as well as, to ensure steady supply of raw materials to Coconut embedded in one of the pillar Industries, Lagos State Government is putting a lot of efforts in the up-stream sector of the Value Chain by producing and suppling quality Coconut Seedlings at affordable prices to Commercial Coconut growers both within and outside the State.
